Devilmite beam vs Instant Hell Murder; What is the better technique?

Bonus round: the Spirit Bomb is also another contender.

Akuma, while being a better fighter in my opinion, does not have the superior technique here, devilmite beam works at a range, while Akuma has to get in melee range, regardless of the outcome on a fight, devilmite is the better technique.
In addition, Spirit Bomb takes far too long to be useful in a 1v1 confrontation. I believe Devilmite beam sweeps.

Spirit Bomb's charge time depends on how much energy you want and how much their is available. It's possible to quickcharge one like what Goku did against Vegeta, that lasted just as long as Solar Flare's effect. The one on Namek or the Kid Boo one though are far more absurd in charge time.

Anyway, Instant Hell Murder has a rather bad success rate as well. Whilst Devilmite Beam just explodes your heart, no ifs or buts about it, Instant Hell Murder sends your soul to Hell. Which is nice, but there is a chance for escape as M. Bison did and Gouken was only made comatose from it(he came back in SF4). It's only ever worked perfectly on Gotetsu, so far as I know

Well, I guess it physically sends you to Hell, but Devil Mite Beam requires some level of Evil. Using it on folks like Goku, Nam, Goten, Chi-Chi and Gohan really wouldn't work either. That whole no evil thoughts thing

Actually, it probably would. The only reason it didn't work on Goku was because his mind was like a small child or an animal's. Even having a single impure thought in you is enough for it to work. If it had been used on Goku as an adult, I'm sure it would have worked

But in both cases, Bison is able to somewhat able to manipulate his soul and Gouken attempted to empty his soul via the Power of Nothingness but was only partial successful. The only one who effectively survived it was Gen during Alpha 2. Gill from 3rd Strike survived solely because of his hax resurrection ability.

Even so, it offers an out. Devilmite Beam just explodes your heart, no outs there unless you can regenerate or ressurect

Not necessarily, Gouken doesn't have to be able to regenerate in order to survive the Devilmite Beam. If he empty his soul then it's effects are useless.

It works on evil thoughts though, not on the soul. I guess that if you emptied your mind you would have an out to it

Huh, the power of nothingness would then be really effective against both.
Hmm, Spirit Bomb may need people to help, and be more selective, but It also works on beings like Buu, who would probably be merely surprised by the beam.

Power of Nothingness is very powerful in the Street Fighter universe lazer it empties everything no no negative thoughts or no impurity, its the polar opposite of the Satsui no Hado which is fueled by anger and rage mainly, as well as bloodlust (these here are impurities). PoN, has none of these traits and perhaps a bit more superior to SnH in terms of power output. But that's besides the point, PoN users are safe from both Shun Goku Satsui and Devilmite Beam.
