I thought I'd get the ball rolling since the fixtures have been released.

This looks like it could be a very interesting season with the likes of Bournemouth and Watford competing in the Premier League.

United were lucky but we also showed some good play as well, it's not like Southampton buried us for 90 minutes and we snagged 3 goals, we were very much on top after the equaliser. It was an encouraging performance and Marital is proving his worth. Not only with his composure in front of goal but he gives us some much needed pace up front. He's reasonably strong for a 19 year old too so his hold up play is also quite good. Encouraging signs there at least.

On the flip side though we started very poorly. I still don't think we can have both Carrick and Schneiderlin at the same time, it should be one or the other. If Martial were a bit older I'd probably drop Rooney, put Mata in at #10 and bring in Herrera and Schweinsteiger, taking Carrick or Schneiderlin off. As it is though that's a lot to put on a 19 year olds shoulders, plus you don't want to overplay someone so young.

I feel bad for Newcastle not getting the full three points. On the other hand, Chelsea didn't either.

Chelsea continue to struggle. It's strange that a team can go from champions to the form that they've opened the season with.

What happened to Man City? They looked so strong initially, lost to West Ham, and then it's like they thought "oh s***, we were fooling ourselves, we're not that good" and rolled over.

They have injuries. No Silva, no Kompany, no Hart and no Zabeletta.

I'm wondering if they should maybe consider hiring a different fitness coach?

Chelsea is the most arrogant team in England and deserves this patch of bad luck and skill.

Bad luck? 8 matches and 8 points isn't bad luck anymore, you suck and you're a delegation candidate.

It continues to amaze me how West Ham can be so disappointing, yet achieve a 5th place.

Brendan Rodgers sacked. Even though it was expected, it was still a shock to see the news broken. Could be a very turbulent time for the club depending on how long it takes to hire a new manager and then whether that new hire can get integrated quick enough and get the players playing to his style. I've heard Carlo Ancelotti is one of the owners first choices, which would be a good hire. Klopp is the name everyone brings up, and he might be the man, but from what I've read the owners aren't big fans of his style of management. Could be misdirection on their part though to throw people off.

Edit: Oh. Klopp's been hired. That was quick.

2nd Edit: Turns out the news I saw wasn't official, so he hasn't been hired yet. My bad.

All official, Klopp's the new manager of LFC. Just watched his first interview and it was very exciting. The international break is an ideal time for the new hiring, giving him time get integrated into the club (along with the staff he brings with him), but man, the Tottenham game can't come soon enough. Really looking forward to seeing what changes he brings to the team's tactical philosophy. He said in the interview that his first goal is to bring defensive improvements, which will be a more than welcome change.

Decent first performance under Klopp. Tottenham away is a tough game and there were plenty of injuries to deal with, so to come out with a point and a clean sheet is commendable. There were definitely areas that could stand to be improved, but that's to be expected under a new manager (the defence especially made some mistakes and were bailed out by a great Mignolet performance, but seeing as Rodgers place so little emphasis on that side of the game, it'll take a while for Klopp's philosophies on that end to be implemented).

I would've thought Klopp was the perfect match for Liverpool if it wasn't for that weak last season at Dortmund. I still think he can make Liverpool a top 4 team again, but I don't think they can keep up with City and Chelsea.

Chelsea are done. Aston Villa flattered them.

Brilliant start for West Ham. They started well last year though, so they'll have to try and keep it up over a full season.

That was a disappointing result for Liverpool. To take the lead so late and then surrender it so quickly. Not the worst start under Klopp, but not the best either (I guess stating the obvious when you've neither lost nor won any of your games). We're looking better defensively, despite some blips (to be expected really, can't ask them to go from woeful to brilliant overnight), but we need to be more clinical in attack. Hopefully Benteke being back in the team, and Sturridge surely not far behind, will give us the edge we're missing.

Aston Villa and Chelsea are the flops of the season in England I guess. anyway It doesn't matter, worthless or decent, all the teams of England fail in Europe. Once again you'll see no british team going through in CHL nor Europa League. They can't compete with Spanish, Italian and German teams.
