I thought I'd get the ball rolling since the fixtures have been released.

This looks like it could be a very interesting season with the likes of Bournemouth and Watford competing in the Premier League.

Should have made enough money from the playoffs that they can afford better players now. Lets face it, they need them. Especially midfield.

Do they get money from the play-offs? I know they'll get the gate receipts, but that's only probably equivalent to about 4-5 games worth of attendance.

A lot of tv money. I thought that perhaps they get some sort of prize money but that's only for the top three and it's not even a lot. About 250k for first place.

I think the teams are going to do good or bad this year, provided if I knew anything about mls. Lol

Gender Neutral, meaning I don't want to be specified to either gender. If you keep calling me by gender terms, I'm just going to call you an "it". That's all.

This thread is more of a discussion about the European competitions. Especially the Premier League.

Is it possible for a team to rise up the league's too quickly?

I'm asking because Salford City, the team co owned by some former Manchester United players including Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs has been storming up the divisions since they bought the club. Right now they are at the top of the Conference North and they haven't lost a match in eight league games. It's entirely plausible that they could win a league but not have the minimum required stadium capacity to be allowed up. That's happened to teams before.

Another thing is finances. How does a team of that size manage sudden increases in finances when they make it to the football league? From what I've read of football history, they often can't. Rushden and Diamonds and Darlington are two examples of this.

Seems like sometimes it's healthier for a team to float around in their respective league for a bit before moving up. Otherwise they end up the way of those many defunct teams listed on Wikipedia.

I think it definitely can happen too quickly. The further you climb up the table, the more expensive wages, transfer fees and day to day activities become. Then there's stadium expansion which will cost money. However, I don't think it's something to worry about. There are examples of teams climbing swiftly through divisions (Hull, Wigan, Swansea) and then settling in the top two divisions. I think that you have to take promotion when you can because the window of escaping the lower leagues can be small and it's easy to end up getting lost in mid-table.

That being said, on manager games sometimes I will myself against promotion for that very reason. I'd rather stay in a division, bolster my squad, then get the promotion, than getting promotion only to find my squad isn't strong enough.

Didn't realise Kuyt was playing phenomenally for you guys. He's what, 35/36? Almost a goal every 2 games, great record for an ageing player.

Impressive performance by Liverpool. Chelsea never really looked like they were in the game until late on when they were making a last ditch attempt for a point. In related news, I love Klopp. Seeing him handing out hugs post-game was genuinely heart-warming. The team seems very close-knit under Klopp and it's really showing on the pitch.

Yeah. Kuyt is a legend. When he came back everybody was kind of thinking: 'Oh nice. He's back for 1 year. Hope he can still play as well as when he left.' And now he's carrying the entire team.

Another win and clean sheet for Plymouth. Graham Carey injured though.

Feyenoord must be serious contenders now and probably favorites to win the title. 6-0-0 so far, beating PSV today, is incredible.
