I thought I'd get the ball rolling since the fixtures have been released.

This looks like it could be a very interesting season with the likes of Bournemouth and Watford competing in the Premier League.

I'm sure he's said that going into other jobs, similar to the 'this is the job I've always dreamed about' spiel managers and players always say. But yeah, only time will tell. I think he'll have an immediate impact anyway, so even if it is a short spell, there'll most likely be a success or two.
He said that going into the Chelsea job, and as you recall he was fired. If he wasn't fired, I'm sure he'd be there for a long time.

Press conference called by Man Utd at 1PM BST, in a little over 30 minutes. It's expected that the club will announce the sacking of van Gaal and perhaps at the same time the hiring of Jose Mourinho.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

I've seen some people complaining on Facebook that Plymouth Argyle have sold 30-something thousand tickets for the Play-Off final, saying that they're glory supporters and where were they during the season etc. Can't they just be happy that Argyle are attracting such a large number of supporters? Plus, of course more people are going to make the effort to go to the final. How often are Argyle going to be playing at Wembley? It's a big event.

You get glory supporters with any team that does well. However I'm pretty sure 90% of the fans are legit. We have an unusually strong fan base for a lower league team. Even compared to Portsmouth. The reason we don't get a full stadium most of the time is because they are usually playing teams like Newport and people don't want to spend £20 a ticket to watch that.

That was something else I was gonna bring up. I will freely admit I have no interest in paying £20 to watch League Two football, but I'd be more open to paying for a ticket to watch Championship football. I wouldn't say people with that attitude are glory supporters, they just don't want to waste time and money on s*** product.

And Jose Mourinho signs for Man Utd ahead of the 16/17 season. This could be good!

Jose coming in has felt inevitable ever since he left Chelsea the first time. It was always rumoured that he wanted the United job after Ferguson and he's talked up the club pretty much every chance he's got. Well, he's in now. He's probably the best manager that's available and someone with real pull to bring talent in. I'm excited for next season, should be a huge summer too!

My concerns are his reputation for ignoring youth players and his general attitude. Everywhere he goes he seems to cause some sort of drama. We'll see. As long as he keeps starting Rashford and Marshiall then I'm ok with him I suppose. Like you said, there aren't many better coaches available right now.

His interest in Zlatan seems to indicate he at least doesn't trust either of Martial and Rashford to be his lone striker (assuming he uses just one like he always does), although they can probably play on the wings (I think Martial's played on the wing a fair bit this season).

Zlatan's probably nearing his final season as a player and I think he is only going to be player/coach as well. Like Ryan Gigg's in his final season. So I hope that's true and Rashford gets a fair chance to gain more experience.

I don't know about that. He scored 50 goals in 51 games last season. That's not the sort of season that indicates him heading towards semi-retirement. The amount of games he played shows that he still has the fitness levels to play a lot of minutes (although the Premiership will be more taxing than Ligue 1) and the goals show he still has the quality (again, Premiership will be a tougher league).

The only way I see him retiring is if he wants to go out on top, but footballers very rarely do that.

Zlatan could be huge for 2-3 seasons, firstly as a magnificent goal-scorer and later as a chance creator. He has so much technique and creativity, it's almost insane.

I wouldn't trust Rashford or Martial to be a lone striker either. Not because they aren't good but because they're young boys. They have both been over-played by Van Gaal this year purely because we have no other options. We would have to bring in a striker this summer to flesh out the team any way and Zlatan has bags of experience and talent. If anything his age could be viewed as a good thing, i.e. if people are saying Zlatan is too old, then surely he won't be played all the time, in which case Martial and Rashford will get their chances. Zlatan is also a different type of player to the pair of them. He's also a much preferable alternative to Van Gaal's genius idea of having Fellaini as our back up striker. As much as I love Fellaini, he doesn't have the ability to do that and with Rooney discovering a new role in midfield there is definitely room for another striker.

Additionally I disagree with a lot of what people say about Mourinho not giving youth a chance. Why, because Chelsea sold Lukaku and De Bruyne? Let's not forget that Mourinho is the man that made players like John Terry, Frank Lampard and Arjen Robben into huge stars at Chelsea in his first run and he's also given plenty of chances to young players elsewhere, namely Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria and Rafael Varane at Real Madrid and also played Kurt Zouma regularly during his last run with Chelsea.

Sir Alex Ferguson himself is guilty of letting top quality footballers slip through the net (i.e. Paul Pogba) so I don't think we can be too harsh on Jose right now, considering he hasn't even begun coaching the team. The fact of the matter is that the Utd squad was too thin after quite a big exodus of players over two summers and the injuries we had this year did not help things. Mourinho is also not likely to let a good thing go - Rashford is on hot form having scored 3 minutes into his England debut tonight and Martial has been a revelation since he joined last summer - I believe that he will recognise that, but I think a lot of fans and critics are naive if they think they can lead Utd to a title on their own at the ages of 18 and 20. They were scoring this season for sure but the team goal difference was poor and a proven goalscorer of world class talent is needed to bring that up. Same for some of the midfield.

If you want to worry about some young players, I'd save it for Memphis Depay and Adnan Januzaj. Both of them have shown great promise in the past few years but have not cut it at all at Old Trafford. Mourinho might think that they don't match the hype and axe them - he'd have far more reason to do that than to drop Martial and Rashford, that's for sure.

Plymouth let Wimbledon win because they are such great sportsmen. That's what that was...

Yeah, that's disappointing, especially after starting the season so well. Hopefully they can push on and get automatic promotion next season.
