I thought I'd get the ball rolling since the fixtures have been released.

This looks like it could be a very interesting season with the likes of Bournemouth and Watford competing in the Premier League.

Newcastle have sacked McClaren and hired Benitez. Interesting hire. I rate Benitez (obviously as a Liverpool fan I'm biased) and feel like Real Madrid probably wasn't the best job for him to take considering how he tends to work better when players check their egos at the door, but I'm not sure how effective he'll be in a relegation fight. I guess he might be able to transfer some of his cup expertise over to the last 9 games of the league, treating each game like knockout game, but whether that will actually get results remains to be seen.

It's a similar case to Liverpool in that the board shelled out a bunch of money only 2 months ago and then canned the manager without giving the players much of a chance to settle in. If Benitez doesn't like Townsend or Shelvey then it's a waste of money, like Benteke for Liverpool. I guess the threat of relegation sort of supersedes finances though, since going down to the Championship would see finances take a massive hit.

I imagine he's been hired knowing full well that he might have to take them out of the Championship.

I hope they stay up because I'd like to see how well he fares back in the Premiership. I think he could do well since he'll be able to shape the squad the way he wants it, similar to his time at Liverpool, without the interference and pressures that come with managing at Chelsea or Real Madrid.

On the flip side, it'll be interesting to see how he fares in the Championship.

Better than Red.

Very excited to hear about Benitez. He's on a different tier to Newcastles previous managers like Pardew and McClaren. I don't think it's too much to ask to stay up. Only one point behind 17th. Leicester this weekend is hardly the ideal start but the derby is next weekend and Norwich the weekend after so hopefully we can get some points from them.
Is it too late to tell you that I don't mind.

Benitez has that ability that he has an immediate effect on any team he gets hired to (except Inter because they suck) so I expect Newcastle to survive now.

West Ham could finish fourth ahead of Manchester City now. I just... this league...

A really disappointing loss today. To go 2-0 up and have nothing to show for it is just unacceptable, especially with West Ham and Man Utd both winning. A big dent to any top four hopes we had. We can still go 4 points behind City if we win our game in hand, which would keep possibilities alive, but you can't really bank on winning a game in hand when you've just lost a game.

Spurs and Leicester both won. I wonder which team will be the first to falter in the race for the title. Spurs play Liverpool and Man Utd in their next two games, they'll do well to come out of those two games with maximum points.

If Arsenal can't catch Leicester City, they better make sure those damn Spuds don't win the title. Spurs winning the title ahead of Arsenal would hurt more than the 12 year title drought.

Leicester are probably going to win even if they lose one or two games. Can't believe how this season's gone. Leicester in first with five points clear, Tottenham second, West Ham fifth, Chelsea tenth, Aston Villa last place. If this happened on Fifa 15 you'd be laughing at how ridiculous it is.

I was saying that to my friend a little while ago. When I play manager games and start as a mid-table team or lower, if I'm challenging for the title I always think "well, this isn't realistic", but here Leicester are doing the same thing I'd consider unrealistic.

Some promotions and relegations confirmed today.

Aston Villa are going down to the Championship.

Bolton going down to League 1.

Crew relegated to League 2

Northampton promoted to League 1.

Dagenham relegated to The National League.

It's looking like both Newcastle and Sunderland will be following Villa down. That'd be a hit to football in that area.

Divock Origi has really come into his own under Klopp. There were some people declaring him a bust before he had even completed his first season at the club (at 20 years of age no less). Snap judgements are stupid.

Basically none of the teams who came up from the Championship last season will be going down. Bournemouth are doing amazing.

Vardy could miss a few games via suspension. That could be crucial for their title hopes. If it happens, the other players will have to step up big time to fill the void, especially with Spurs looking as strong as they have done in the home stretch.
