Dragonball started out as a childish thing to begin with.
So? Even Dragon Ball eventually turned fairly dark. The Red Ribbon Army, Bora's death, Goku's defeat at the hands of Tao, Kuririn and Kame-sennin's death, and just Piccolo in geneal weren't exactly all sunshine and rainbows. The thing about Dragon Ball in general is that it needs to strike a balance of comedy, or just a feel good nature, and a serious tone. I mean, there's a reason the Majin Boo arc is so off putting to some fans. It accentuated the comedy after a fairly grim story arc.
I do agree, but the conclusion made by some members here is unfair. What I see in Super is an action-comedic style akin to BoG and FnF. Expect action, but expect comedy or "childish" segments too.

so the gods of all the universes are all CATS, how unique .......and stupid and childish

You remember that Rabbit guy in early Dragon Ball? That's stupid and childish, and it sold fantastically, anime and manga.
trust me i know dragon ball, and yes it was childish, but when Z took on a more serious vibe because the cast was adults, it should of stayed like that. i dont mind filler of comedy at all i like it, but plz make the vilians threat seem real and the enemies dark to some degree

That's not Akira Toriyama's style. He still had comedic ingredients in the manga throughout all of it.

But to a much lesser degree in Z, and Dragon Ball Z is the most popular part of the franchise for a reason.

Well, that's predictable. I prefer comedic DB over Z any day.

I know it's all preference, so I'll just let that be it for this conversation.

I think however that the alternative universes doesn't necessarily need new characters. Slight alterations are fine with me.

After seeing this series, people will actually prefer Gt over Super and will actually feel sorry of how they all condemned it back in the old days. After all this is over, DBGT will actually be considered a more canon continuation to DBZ.

Wat the fak is going on?? This takes place after RF right?
Well based on the fact that Goku goes regular SSJ, seems to imply it takes place after Battle of Gods, but before Resurrection F.

Sighs... well Clone Wars and Transformers Prime both looked incredibly underwhelming from the visuals, maybe there's more than meets the eye to this. The whole point of Dragon Ball is not to judge a book by it's cover (Apparently the fan community doesn't know that because every single one of us, myself included, has written a novel's worth of Power Levels) so... hey at least it's gonna be short? 100 episodes, that's only 4 seasons.
I actually really liked TF Prime's art style(for the TFs, the humans look a bit funky), but that's not the same thing. This is kind of like if in the TF Prime trailer, we saw Megatron and Starscream next to two characters who are just Megatron without spikes and female Starscream.
Megatron with spikes = Galvatron
Female Starscream = Slipstream

Yeah we already have those things in Transformers. So I'm actually OK with this. The real question is what are they going to do with it. I'm already underwhelmed by the promo material and the series continuity is too strong as is, so I'm not too worried about where this goes. You can gloss over Super as easily as you can gloss over GT I'm sure.
Galvatron is Megatron though. No one is trying to pass him off as a totally different character. Also, I said Megatron without spikes. Slipstream was a literal clone of Starscream, that's her excuse. The other gods being so similar is not the same thing, as Beers suggested Goku could be the next god of destruction

So we're getting an official rule 63 Whis. Didn't see that coming.

Fat Beerus looks like something out of a bad fan art.

Maybe those two are from the GT universe. Which will make Super and GT into two different universes.
