Stop this. Now. Your elitist way of thinking is really disgusting, because you make it sound like fact when all it is is your opinion. Understand that, please. |

It's not detestable and shameful to put one's own spin or interpretation on a work of art. Sometimes that can lead to creative and exciting moments that would never have happened if they had decided said work of art is a sacred cow or something. If you don't like adaptations and localizations changing things, the you should also be calling for the extirpation of all DBZ anime for censoring and altering Toriyama-sama's vision. Not to mention the unfaithful manga adaptation of Revival of F; they left out Piccolo's fight with Shisami. How dare they disrespect the source material like that! Hunt down the Viz translation team! How dare they change Pui-Pui to Pocus, how dare they add extra smoke to cover Bulma's nipples; that's disrespectful! |

"DBZ wouldn't have been successful here without those changes because America is a special cultural snowflake" is 100% unfounded, presumptuous horse sh*t. I'm not the out of the ordinary one here. Not if you look beyond this little USA fandom bubble you dwell in. It's literally only in America where DBZ's tone and presentation were changed so much in a thoughtless attempt to be "cool and different." No other region's dub used altered music, and yet DBZ excels everywhere it goes. This "cultural difference" excuse doesn't hold up. You are everything wrong with typical American "DBZ" fans. Selfish, closed-minded, xenophobic, thinking they're special, and wanting nothing but their own tastes accommodated. I'm an American too, and it's people like you who make me ashamed of titling myself as a Dragon Ball fan. I'll take the "elitist" title, translate it as "actually giving a damn about how the series is treated" and be proud of it. |

Hey, I got a question for you. See that I choose to edit out all of Star Wars' music and replace it with the music from Lord of the Rings. What does that make me? |

This might be the most ironic paragraph I've ever read in my life. Are you really that narrow-minded that you are entirely unable to accept anyone having a different opinion than you on this subject? It's just a TV show and it's just music for a TV show. Calm down. I support Faulconer all the way. Please tell me how much of a disgrace I am. Edited by Slifer, Jun 10 2015, 07:18 AM.

You're blind if you can't see the blatant disrespect your showing towards people who have a different OPINION to yours. Proper done with this topic and your bulls***. It's going no where. Thanks for ruining a harmless discussion bro! |

Let's not get into a fight here. If he can't see that he's had a certain lack of respect for members in this thread then that's his loss. No need to throw disrespect back. |

Besides, nobody's going to actually try to replace the score either so get real. The money and effort it would take when people could just edit it themselves would be too much. If we got really lucky, like really..really lucky, we might get a options menu to change the music on the DVD release. Otherwise, the Western Dubbers aren't going to come down to Funimation Studio, cock a gun down the executives' throats and demand they put in Faulconer's music in. |

At best the fans get vocal about their wants, show a lot of support for it and get a public "No" from Funimation. But, we can still dream and watch the fan versions of it. |

Go hunt down that Akira Kurosawa hack for disrespecting Shakespeare when he adapted King Lear. How dare he Japanify it! I spit on that movie and everything it stands for. It's not a brilliant retake on a great work of art, it changed things; we just can't have that! To be clear, I'm not saying Bruce Falcouner is as talented as Kurosawa (hah!), but I am saying that making changes and reinterpreting things can often lead to something unique and great. I'm not saying that about the Funimation dubs, they blew and I don't much like Falcouner, but there are lots out there who do, and if it weren't for Funimation botching up the soundtrack and "being xenophobic", we'd have missed out on something a lot people consider to be great music. Besides, the CEO of Funimation is Japanese, who was even born there. Is he an uncle tom or something for allowing his studio to defile and violate Japanese culture? Translation: "How dare people take part in activities that I don't enjoy! Everyone should accommodate me, if I don't want to discuss powers, then no one should. If anyone discusses it in my vicinity, I will condemn them for being silly and shallow. It's true I obsess over a cheesy cartoon and get worked up for no reason myself, but I do it properly." If you don't like forums with battle power discussions, then you should not partake. Edited by FutureProtagonist, Jun 10 2015, 07:49 AM.

After watching the original I found the orchestral style quite limited in what it could convey. There's a huge array of emotions, character personalities, situations etc that you need people to sense or feel through your music. You can't do that effectively with same-sounding/repetitious music. Faulconer's music, although flawed, did this relatively well. You could sense Vegeta's inflated sense of self importance straight away from his music, Freiza's sinister nature was there in his. Gohan's benign nature as he approached the battlefield to take on Buu, or Piccolo's pride, his nobleness, his loyalty. He definitely could have learned that absence of sound isn't necessarily a bad thing. Silence can be quite powerful in the right moments. Overall though, I think Faulconer's music did it better. Oh god. His awkward scene transitions and goofy sounds he used when nothing was going on is the only thing that I can't stand about it. His "theme" songs however are so spot on that it's easy to forget the bad stuff. |

Satan. Seriously though. While I do and always have prefered the Japanese score, it would be interesting to see what Faulconer good do with a better budget. The guy scored some good themes. It was the use of synthesizer that I found off putting. Either way, even if it sucked, that is the beauty of dvd and blu ray: multiple tracks. |
