Yeah, that's usually the case. Top surgery usually comes before bottom surgery, and a lot of trans people never get bottom surgery because the procedure is still so flawed.

I am tired of hearing about it like many others.

I dont like when celebrity news overtakes real world problems, which is an everyday thing and not exclusive to this story.

No part of me is interested in what others do in their personal life. You can get boobs and change your name. As long as you don't harm anybody and pay your taxes you are okay in my book.

I admit, either out of ignorance or uncertainty, I don't know if its right to call a transgender person by a new sex, because that is really a matter of chromosomes. At the moment we have no medical power to change that.

But at the end of the day, I have no problem refering to Bruce as Caitlyn. Just as the same way that all of us here do not go by our birth names. It's legally changed and Bruce is no more. That I can understand.

I wish them the utmost happiness, not just to Caitlyn but to people like this all over the world. If I can get all the tattoos I want, you can do whatever you please with your body.

I don't agree with this part of your post at all. Sex may be determined by chromosomes, but gender isn't. Gender is socially constructed. In that case, calling Caitlyn a her is completely reasonable. Also, there are medical procedures to change that. They're called top and bottom surgery.

That is a fair point madame. But...

I was expressing my own confusion on the matter rather than making a judgement. I simply said I didn't know. Which is why it takes a wonderful person such as yourself to come along and share some of their knowlage.

And I do appreciate that. I am more than willing to learn about it. I support her decision, its just not something I have truly examined to know the specifics in and out. And mostly I don't feel the need to because I would rather accept her decision rather than split hairs.

I hope I was a bit more clear this time. :)

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

Lauren Hill should have gotten the Courage ESPY. If your personal, social viewpoints blinds you of that, I'm saddened. Caitlyn Jenner is obviously brave and courageous, but the obvious social issue of ignorant people who don't accept other's choice to change their gender/sex has plunged Jenner into receiving an award that a 19 year old basketball player deserved. Lauren Hill spent her last days alive playing basketball to raise awareness and money for cancer research. In her effort more than 1.5 million dollars was raised to help research and awareness.

People who have said it's not a contest are right.

But people who think someone making the decision to go against social norms and openly change their gender shouldn't be compared to a young kid who faced certain death, and in that decided to spend her last time on this earth helping others and still striving to be better.

But hey what do I know.

Anyone interested:

When she won the award over that other guy (me not knowing the other guys name tells a lot about the media), it reminded me of this post on tumblr. It basically said that soldiers risking their lives was brave, but that a lesbian couple kissing in public was "true bravery". They both require bravery, but risking your life for your country requires much more.

I'm convinced that the only reason she won was because she was famous. There are lots of transgender people (though in the grand scale, barely any), what makes her any better or braver than all the others?
Being a positive role model for other transgender people is not a bad thing in the slightest. I personally believe it is something that should be celebrated. What other celebrity has come out as transgender after being known as the other gender for the vast majority of their life. She is basically saying that you should be proud of who are you and that there is nothing wrong with it.

Insensitively calling her Bruce is just wrong.

Take this for example:

Even if you do disagree with the publicity and such - which is probably due to the Kardashians, but also to an extent due to her Olympic achievements earlier in life - you can still show the respect to call her by her actual name and using the correct pronouns. Making a few mistakes here and there is fine, I understand it happens. But purposefully doing it is wrong.

P.S. I'm a good friend and went through and fixed all of your posts. Also moving this to Talk About Anything as it is something I don't think we should really be joking about at this stage.
I'm confused, I never remember calling her Bruce in my post. And if I did, or if I used the wrong pronouns, it was all purely accidental.
