Why can't "gamers" enjoy stylized/cartoony games now?

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

In response to criticism about Fallout 4's graphics but generally I find this attitude of so called gamers to day so annoying.

A guy on YouTube put it perfectly, stylized graphics age far better. If you go look at Ocarina of Time today it looks awful but back then it was amazing, the most real game ever and everyone loved it.
But then look at WInd Waker and it still looks great today because it wasn't trying to mimic real life.

It's idiotic how people simply won't play a game because the graphics don't look real or perfect, like it can't be a good game otherwise...yet Nintendo exists still.
Though Yoshi doesn't look enough like a dinosaur, Nintendo should be binned HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE SCALES WHAT LAZY DEVS.

It's a mentality that forces developers to waste buttloads of time developing the look of a game and less on making it enjoyable to PLAY. This crap needs to stop.

If it's credited as being realistic and it looks like PS1 Polygon textures then great, complain away but wow I wish people would shut up about how every game looks it's so shallow.

Can't help but liken this to the whole "PC master race" thing pretty much all of those type of guys talk about graphics like this as though gameplay should come second and as PC becomes a more popular and viable platform those kind are certainly multiplying and spreading that s*** further.

Real life is dull, we all live it every day we don't need every game to look real, games are a fantasy that let you explore whole new worlds.

I agree. I've never been infatuated with graphics. Sure, awesome graphics are great to look at, but I'll take a 10/10 storyline/gameplay with 6/10 graphics over a 6/10 storyline/gameplay and 10/10 graphics every time.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."

^pretty much summed it up for me as well
once upon a time there lived a man, this man had all the awensers to every question man made, however he could not speak, when he awoke one morning he found two men discussing a topic he was all too familiar with so as usual he tried to explain the awenser to them, but they just ignored him and carried on at that momment a box came along and told the man:
"If you really want people to hear your ideas even if you are right to cant just tell them they must serch for it, if you like you can live inside me and people can come and ask me there questions and i shall respond with your awensers"
The man nodded and lived inside the box, people constantly consult the box for awensers but sometimes dont believe it,You know what the mans name was:

But in all seriousness, even cartoony styles age. I'm looking at the Smash Bros series here.

Well said. I think that's an important point about gaming that some gamers actually forget about.

Yeah I just really hope gaming doesn't completely devolve in to a graphics battle, it'd be really sad and every game would just look the same.

One of my favourite games is Thomas Was Alone and it's literally just an indie where you control several squares/rectangles and solve puzzles while someone narrates the story of Thomas and his friends.

Far more interesting to me than realistic looking water and rocks in a game with terrible gameplay. If it's not fun the spectacle of how it looks just isn't enough unless it's one of those arty games, which are cool and look pretty but...they're a genre not a graphical standard.

I feel like these kind of gamers need a Real Life Simulator and then we'll never see them again because they'll be stuck on a chair playing the most realistic game ever instead of experiencing life.
