So, coming in FIFA 16 is the addition of Womens Football, something which has been a long time coming I think and should increase womans sport in football as a whole. However some people have been critical, even going as far as saying "Women shouldn't play football!", personally I don't see the problem and think it's a great step in the series. Though, I have never and will never buy a FIFA game lol, so anyone with experience of the game or just an opinion, thoughts?

I think it's a fair thing to do even though I won't buy the game myself, until I'm assured it's sufficiently improved from the previous. They have to do more than add women's teams to get me interested in the series again.

As a big FIFA gamer this is not a big addition at all.
From what I heard it's just a few national women's teams that can play against each other in kick-off mode.

Career mode and UT are the general reasons people buy the game and those modes remain untouched by the addition.
I wonder how they'll handle player ratings, if all women's teams have 40 and 50 rated players the teams will be sh*t to play with and people will hate it, then again if they make women 80 rated it'll be unrealistic. No offense to women, but there is still a large difference in the quality in football between men and women.

I heard it's just 8 national teams or so? Not even the Dutch one so I'm not excited, then again I'm not a f***ing misogynistic idiot that is against it.
It's just that I would've rather seen new leagues such as the Ukrainian one, Brazilian one or the Dutch 2nd League.

Like Ginyu said, it'll be interesting to see how they figure out the ratings. If they keep it realistic, they'd have to make them at the level of League Two teams at the very best, probably lower. You could argue that they should rate them higher so that they're playable, but FIFA has always prided itself on rating players accordingly (plus, supporters of lower league teams could argue that they should make their teams rated higher so they're playable).

I'm not exactly against it, I just won't use it. As long as it doesn't affect any part of the game.

Indeed, League 2 at best.

Then again, you can't play with women against men so I think they might resemble the men's ratings except these ratings will be separate women's ratings.

Come to think of it, they might put this feature in career mode, where you can coach a female team through the women's FIFA World Cup.
Then again, might use it for jokes once or twice and play a buddy in women's football but I'll probably just remain to regular teams.

Politically this feature is of course amazing.

Yeah, I said League Two to be respectable :P. You were probably closer with the 40-50s.

An interesting comparison in regards to the ratings is the NBA 2K franchise. They introduced European basketball teams as playable in exhibition mode and they bumped up the ratings of the players there. The had European players rated higher than some NBA players who they were definitely not better than. There were also NBA guys who played for European teams and were rated one number, then when they came back to the NBA they were rated lower (e.g. 78 down to 71). I imagine FIFA will do a similar thing i.e. rating women players as if women's football was the only football that existed.

I'd probably treat this the same way I treat the European teams in 2K: try it out once just because it's new, then completely ignore it.

I think this is a step in the right direction. the FIFA games has had much focus on engine lately and I now think it's time for some more additions to gameplay and aesthetics. Hopefully they can soon add Women's leagues from different countries such as USA, England, Norway, France and Germany. After that they should focus on academies in different clubs, expand the universe even more.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Going to be hilarious when people start going crazy over the game because it's sexist that one female players stats aren't exactly the same as one of the mens stats, even if it's the worst female player vs Ronaldo or something.

Not that I'm against it just they're on a slippery slope here if there's anything that could be considered remotely sexist people will try destroy the game because they poorly represented women or some s***.

Why would they add womens football now though? Are the ratings for FIFA declining or something? Seems odd that they'd only bother 16 games in.

It's because PES is becoming a much bigger rival all of the sudden.
FIFA needs to do new things, by introducing this they probably want to seem like the crazy rebelliously innovative super tolerant franchise.

It's just a marketing trick, when you look into it this is not a big deal at all. Just a dozen extra teams on top of their already 600 teams, except the players of these teams have breasts and long hair

Well it's not a marketing trick that works with some of their core players who think it will ruin the game, lol. For stats, they can't really do them to compare with male footballers, since they don't play against each other, it won't matter that you have high level female players since, won't impact.

Womens football hasn't had as much funding or history as male football, though women would have still played before it was recognised because sports aren't generally gender exclusive. The quality is getting better and better with more investment and FIFA adding it to their game should also boost some sales for womens matches. That gives more money, more money means better facilities for training. A small number of teams might just be a way to test the waters to see what comes of it rather than putting a lot of time into a project.

It's an area of football that exists and games should represent it, back when I last played any football game, the addition of youth teams was a big thing! Those players were often useless, some were good.

I've seen a lot of really stupid, sexist comments made about this which makes me angry.

For me this addition is actually a reason to buy the game. How can it possibly ruin a game by adding more features? How can it ruin a game by showing societal progression? If anything this is exactly what EA Sports and every other video game company should be doing - promoting equality.

Sure it may only be a few teams but even that is a bigger improvement than there being no female representation at all. It may even get more girls interested in playing the game which is only beneficial for the company as it generates them more sales.

Whatever people might be saying about this there is seriously no downside to adding the women's teams and it's the right way forward as far as I'm concerned.

It will indeed be interesting to see how the ladies stats are worked out. Whether they try and rank them based on the male players or if they rank the best female player the same way they would rate Messi or Ronaldo.

It's 10 year anniversary since changing the franchise to numbers instead of year. FIFA06 was the first in this numeral system they are now using, besides 06 was the first to feature a whole new engine that has been improved upon ever since. That may be a reason they are adding female players to the game.

This is kind of like complaining about adding female fighters to a fighting game. Like, don't use them if you don't want to then.

Given the kneejerk reaction, it seems like people are going to complain about it

You can only play female teams against other female teams IIRC, so they'll probably have their own rating system relative to each other. Which is probably the best way to do it. Even the top female teams would have the lowest stats on the game if you rated them against mens teams, so no one would really want to use them outside of novelty factor. However, having them have high rankings relative to men would be unrealistic. Given you can't play them against each other, it'd be a good compromise.

I figured that, but what I mean is, in Women's football they might rate the best player at Overall 90 something, or they might compare how they play against the men, so have them at a level of 70 overall or something, which would suck but I wouldn't put it past them to do that.
