Cell absorbing humans was pretty dark and when Super Boo killed a guy by going in his body and bursting him from the inside.

Frieza would have lost against Vegeta just like he would have lost to Goku if it were not for Sorbet. Of course, that is assuming that Frieza would prolong the fight with Vegeta and not just go in for the kill. Frieza, had he gone for the kill, could have potentially destroyed Goku from the start.

I mean, Freeza caused the explosion, so he was directly responsible for Vegeta's death, and Freeza supposedly survived the blast, so yeah, Vegeta would have lost if Goku didn't step in to prevent the Earth's destruction.
