I'm probably fairly known as a Gohan fan on these forums by now.

So how about you guys?
When thinking of Gohan, from the start of Saiyan Arc to the end of the Majin Buu Arc and the different aspects of his Characters development.

As a fan of Dragonball Original, I loved the Piccolo Arc, from King Piccolo to his Reincarnation and the clashes he had with the Goku and the rivalry they came to develop.
But later in Dragonball Z they became allies, and Piccolo his former enemy trained Goku's son.

In a way, Gohan was kind of like what you'd get if you combined Goku and Piccolo. I liked that fusion of Character elements, he was Goku's son, a Saiyan but was trained by Piccolo and sported his Gi.
It also kind of gave us the Kid Goku vibe back since Goku was now an Adult.

Gohan also what resulted in Piccolo and Goku becoming really strong allies over the 3 years before the Androids appeared as they all trained together, without Gohan as the middle ground, in all likelihood, Goku and Piccolo may not have become such close allies and friends.

It kind of felt like to me Gohan was what represented everyone slightly.
He was Goku's son and a Super Saiyan.
He was half Human, with a kind nature and born on Earth.
And trained to fight by Piccolo and wore his Gi.

Saiyan/Human/Namekian

I do felt like how they finished off Gohan's character in the Buu Arc wasn't that great, but for a lot of the series, the returning of the Kid Goku vibe, the different character elements that kind of made him a hybrid of many aspects of the Dragonball series, and his mysterious hidden power; were all really interesting plot points to me that caused Gohan to be my favourite character.

It's a shame the Human side of him won out in the end after the 7 years of peace, but oh well.
He still had some good character elements. However, I wished when he faced Super Buu, he asked for Piccolo's Gi again. But I guess he had just said Goodbye to his farther and it was his way of paying his respects I guess.

So why do you like or dislike Gohan?

I like that Gohan does what he wants and doesn't really give a f***. I also like his character arc in general. Seeing him be built up to be this super powerful character that couldn't tap into his abilities and finally see him become a Super Saiyajin 2 and push Cell's sh** in was pretty cool. I also like his general personality. He just seems like a really chill guy. As for what I don't like about him, I can't really think of anything. I just have a problem with fans who demand more from him when he doesn't have an interest in fighting. Let him live his life! That being said, that doesn't mean I don't want to see him kick some a**. I just think people who want him in a bigger role are asking too much from a father, a husband, and a scholar.

I like his difference from most other Z-Fighters with his pacifist attitude and whatnot but what I don't like is how he's only relevant with his "rage boosts" and the fact that he pretty much gets all his major power ups without training or anything. I also fail to see the hype for him as a character and I don't think it was an injustice that he didn't end up the main character. With his personality taken in to consideration, it makes perfect sense.
