Was the Turtle Hermit training really all that good?

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Yamcha got pretty damn far in his training for the tournament and all he seemed to be doing was breaking trees.

Goku and Krillin gained tons of strength from the training sure but they wouldn't be so successful if they weren't naturally talented, Goku especially.

As well as that they don't learn any moves from it at all so they have to be naturally gifted or already trained in fighting to really benefit from it, most people probably wouldn't.

So is it even worth it? Clearly in the Dragon Ball world anyone can progress a lot in mere months, the benefits from Roshi's training don't stack up all that well against others it depends on the students already being gifted.

Well Kriillin went from being bullied and beaten up by those Orin Temple Students to sending one flying miles through the stadium wall with a single kick,. Then in the next tournament Yamcha and Krillin go frm being under 21st Goku to being better than Chappa who is supposedly an even match for Baba Goku. So yeah, I would say his training must be pretty effective.

Yamcha went from being inferior to Krillin to be on par with him with Roshi's training.

- Goku became an absolute monster from the training that he was equal with Roshi in the 21st Budokai. He was able to see his more hectic movements against Kuririn.
- Kuririn went from being bullied by the big boys from the Orin Temple to sending one of the flying through a wall and being unhurt from being stomped on.
- Like Emmeth said, Yamcha went from being stomp material for Kuririn to being on par with him even impressing him with his performance against Tenshinhan (even though Ten was likely holding back).
- Chi-Chi went from being a largely untrained child (who was still uncommonly strong) to being well into master levels from an inferior derivative of it in just 6 years.
