The first two attempts would hit Boo like it happened in the manga.

With Super Saiyan 3, it's practically guaranteed.

Only a VERY big explosion could, or at least pure energy, since I guess that's what truly killed him in the end. Gotenks was just a trashtalker, I don't really think he could've killed or defeated Boo at all.

SSJ3 Goku stated he could obliterate Kid Buu and i don't see them having a big gap, sure it would be bigger than SSJ3 Gotenks/Super Buu but still... I give this the benefit of doubt but if Gotenks went all out and started with a large number of Ghosts he could kill Buu. But like I said not sure.

He was underestimating a Boo who was just messing around and he was overestimating what his living body could accomplish. Hence his massive failure to gather his energy.
