Why isn't it highly illegal to not vaccinate your kids?

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I don't get why there's still debate about this in the world.

Vaccines don't work?
Do tell how many people have polio and smallpox these days...

I feel it should be illegal to not get your kids vaccinated, we've talked about this before but I think the government should put their foot down.
Just because you don't understand or accept that they do work or think it's some kind of government conspiracy does not give you the right to put your child and everyone they come in contact with in danger of catching terrible diseases, because of your ignorance.

Like paying taxes it should be part of what it means to live in society, if people don't like it they can live in the wild and let natural selection do it's work.
Who knows, maybe they'll live and we won't but yeah in the meantime my kids would be going to school in hazmat suits if an anti-vaxxers kid was in their school.

I find College Humour pretty dull and tacky more than humourous usually but:

Yeah.
That's basically it.

Completely agree. It should be compulsory when possible (pretty sure a small minority of babies can't be vaccinated for medical reasons, which is another reason vaccination should be compulsory, to protect those who can't be vaccinated).

The fact that preventable diseases are on the rise again in America because of the new anti-vaccine trend is ridiculous.

Whenever people say they're against vaccines what they're really saying is that they don't understand what a vaccine is and don't bother to look it up

But they inject diseases in to your body! How can that possibly help!

Dude, they're obviously trying to give everyone said diseases.

Haven't you noticed everyone lives in an Iron Lung due to Polio?

Government man, what a*****.

What should be done about this though? 'cause people still aren't going to agree even if it's illegal. As much as I'd be fine with them going and living in the wild and probably dying they're still going to have kids.
Evict the adults from their homes and make them live in some kind of camp for ignorant fools?

If you're too ignorant to protect your child from disease then sorry but it should be taken away from you simple as that. No parent who would expose their kid and others to that willingly deserves to be a parent.

I thought it was illegal, isn't it? I believe here in Spain it is. But I'm not sure.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

The simple answer is because being scared is much easier than actually thinking. "Dude, the government!" (Note: This sentence doesn't even need to be finished) "OMG you're right!" (insert knee-jerk reaction to perceived threat)

You'll always have the people who say "I have a right to choose what goes into my body, and my child's body, etc". Sure they do, but no one's going to cry for you when you get something that the rest of us were smart enough to protect ourselves against. Natural selection indeed. So no, I guess it shouldn't be illegal -not- to get your kid vaccinated, because I DO believe in natural selection, and I feel absolutely no pity or sorrow for a life lost due to the individual's own lapse in (or outright refusal of) rational thought.

Natural Selection is one thing, but surely there's a point where you step in because a person is being unbelievably stupid? Pretty harsh to say that you don't feel sorrow for the kids who aren't getting vaccinated due to their parent's paranoia; they're not making the choice themselves, their parents are putting them at risk because they're too idiotic to actually look into how something works.

I admit that I forgot that we were talking specifically about kids, so yes, I do feel bad for the ones who don't know any better because the parents have bought into whatever "studies show" article that they read. My post would apply more to adults who think this way when they clearly should be using their -own- judgment.

How to solve the world epidemic:

1. Remove the warning labels off everything
2. Time
3. Watch the problem solve itself
4. ????
5. Profit!

Oh, I completely agree with you when it comes to adults. Each individual has a responsibility to look into issues and make a rational, logical conclusion imo, and if people are too stubborn to do that, whatever happens as a result of it is their fault.
