Crazy Awesome Legend

Has anybody else played a Star Ocean game before? I have the PSP remake and it's really enjoyable. Although the voice acting is quite poor.

It's a real time combat rpg but not like those annoying ones with all the text on the screen. It keeps it simple. Explaining the plot might be a spoiler so I won't do that. But basically you start on this planet and then go around the universe fighting evil and stuff. I really recommend playing the PSP ones. However the original is on SNES if you're interested in that version.

The fifth installment is in development for PS3 and 4 so that's great. However I will wait for reviews since Star Ocean four was said to be disappointing. Not awful but not great either.

Oh yeah and the PSP one has full anime cutscenes. It looks very old school. Like 80s anime style. Not like the modern Fire Emblems or Bravely Default. I need to see if there's an option for Japanese voices.

.

I enjoyed the two original PS1 releases (as well as the PSP remakes). I've grown numb to terrible voice acting due to all the JRPGs and Anime I've been indoctrinated with.

The Last Hope was also enjoyable. Once again, terrible voice acting. Tropes left and right. A lot of humor aimed specifically at Japanese culture that might be lost on anyone who isn't remotely familiar with it. However the game play and graphics (at the time) were stellar. There was a character I despised and they were kind enough to put in a 'mute character' option in the settings so I only had to hear it speak during cut scenes.

However, the PS2 release was complete trash. Don't play it. Don't bother with it. Pretend it doesn't exist.
