Why's evryone saying Vegeta was SSj2 vs Beerus?

From what I'm seeing it's entirely arbitrary.

But Vegeta doesn't look like a SSj2 at all when enraged against Beerus. Not to mention the aura, even the hair resembles SSj more.

I'm going by this chart here. Vegeta's hair in that scene is closer to SSj1 than 2 IMO.

I mean, he looks ssj1 I guess but other than when he's majin, it's always been almost impossible to tell when he's ssj2 in the anime. It doesn't really make sense for him to use ssj1 when fighting the God of destruction

Edit: Posted Image actually he has the facial features to be ssj2 here based on the pic you posted

Posted Image his hair seems more ssj2 like here too. I think to just toei's horrible habit of not putting sparks

From a power standpoint, it makes much more sense. Who wants SSJ Vegeta to be surpassing basically everyone?

No one at Toei cares about the distinction between Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2, especially in Vegeta's case. He looks practically identical in both forms, excepting the sparks, which weren't even present when Goku explicitly used Super Saiyan 2.

Toei never cared to distinguish the two.

There really isn't a way to distinguish SSJ from SSJ2 in regards to Gohan and Vegeta with the current animation. Honestly, it really doesn't make any sense for Vegeta to rely on SSJ, when he has a form that's twice as strong.

Toei just colored Vegeta's hair gold and let the fans figure it out. Goku and Vegeta fought an entire episode in SSJ1 in the buu saga despite going ssj2 the episode before.

Well, that "twice as strong" part actually makes me think SSj2 is not such a big deal after all, and so Vegeta wouldn't really care to transform to that form, haha. If SSj2 was say, 5-8x SSj like I've always assumed, then it would have been something worth considering. But you've got them official multipliers, so... :P

What if Vegeta just powered up in SSJ1, making his power level higher than in SSJ2 by rage? Even Goku after absorbing the god power fought Beerus with just SSJ1. Vegeta's hair clearly doesn't look SSJ2 like, I think is just SSJ1, somehow SSJ2 was abandoned because it may be useless? Only SSJ3 got maybe the "last screen" in BoG because is more special and popular than the SSJ2.

Like others have said, 9/10 times it is not clearly defined whether someone is SSJ or SSJ2. This goes from the Saiyaman Saga, through the movies and i to GT. Movie 10 is a good example, and watching GT, I don't recall SSJ2 being defined at all. It's lazy animation.

Even though I want to see a clear difference, it's just more practical to assume SSJ2 sometimes.

it's left up to the fans to identify if logically Vegeta is going to go head to head with a God in a weaker form than he possesses, I think not.

I remember some topics from another forums where it was speculating if Vegeta lost the SSJ2 after Buu saga, especially in GT for not training.

What?

That's why it has to be Toriyama, and not some dolt from Toei that writes the character.
