Wild animals as pets

Why do people have big strong wild animals as pets? Like chimpanzees especially. They're essentially body builders with only half a brain and could go into fight or flight mode at any second. It's obviously a very dangerous and scary as f*** animal no matter how "smart" you say they are

I mean the idea of having like a pet tiger or something like that is cool but come on why cant people be realistic? Its not easy to control these things

I, myself, personally don't like animals or pets. But, people do keep wild animals has pets because,

1.They do actually love that animal
2.They want to show people about the Unique pets they have tamed.

Search Youtube. Some guys have Lioness walking all around their house.

Its okay to have Dogs or cats as pets. Wild animals are not playthings

Their habitat belong in the forest. One day, there will come the time the owners very own pets feast on them

I think the guy just casually hanging out with a Polar Bear was probably pushing it a bit. Seen someone else on Youtube playing with a Hyena as well.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Multiple reasons:

1. Some people like to be different
2. Some people like the danger
3. Some people believe they're the ones that can tame the untameable
4. Some people are stupid

The dude with the hyena is Kevin Richardson. He hangs around with prides of lions as well. Even with leopards and probably other animals too.

I know some people rescue exotic animals while they're still just babies and then raise them.

This dude tho....

I think as long as you're not ignorant about it and you respect that they are dangerous then it's fine.

Personally I've always wanted a tiger but I'd be concerned about the cost of it's food and vet bills.

There is no real problem with having a wild animal as a pet if it comes from a reputable source(you know, not snatched from the wild). The problem lies in the risk factor of having a large creature as a pet along with them lacking the passiveness of a regular pet.

You can keep it as a pet if you want, but be aware that you greatly increase the risk of injury to yourself and others near it as compared to other pet animals.

P.S. Deomstic dog attacks are actually very common

Dogs and cats are bad enough, and they've been domesticated over hundreds of years. Owning an unconventional, large pet is putting yourself in even more danger. Sure, there are examples of it working smoothly, but there are also examples of it not going so smoothly. For me, the risk just isn't worth it.

I reckon everyone of these owners probably have horror stories and if they don't then it's only a matter of time.

Yeah. Even in videos I've seen where the tiger/lion/whatever seems friendly, their version of playing is still dangerous on it's own. They play-fight with the owner as if they shared the same strength and size.

My Dear Melancholy,

Imagine breaking into someone's house and instead of an alarm, a dog, or even a gun it's a tiger, lion, Hyena, or Polar Bear.

Those dogs were like "Chill bruh". Such beautiful animals though.
