I'm not particularly sure how to get this into proper wording, but I was watching some Power Ranger material and it made me wonder about the actors that are only remembered for one movie or one TV show. Jason David Frank seems to only be remembered for being the original Green Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (despite being in the MMA world for a while now), and the same goes for a lot of the cast. Sarah Michelle Gellar has done plenty of movies and been in a handful of TV shows, but everyone remembers her for being Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Who else can you think of that only gets remembered for one movie/TV show they were in? How do you think actors deal with this sort of mentality? Do you think it must get pretty dry and repetitive when fans only seem to acknowledge one thing you've done in 10+ years of acting? Or do some actors enjoy the recognition and embrace it? How would you deal with something like that if you were an actor? Edited by Pyrus, Mar 27 2015, 01:16 AM.

Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox are very successful actresses with resumes longer than my arm, yet they're always referred to as "those chick's from friends" makes you wonder if they'd have gotten anywhere if not for that sitcom |

David Tennant in Doctor Who. If you ever watch his Shakespeare, his role in Harry Potter or the first season of Broadchurch then you know what a versatile actor he is. But most people still only see him as The Doctor. Rowan Atkinson. To a lot of people he is Mr Bean. To me he is a comedic actor who can play many roles very well. My favourite of which is Blackadder II. His one man stage show was very good too. |

Christopher Reeve as Superman comes to mind. As for how I would handle it? I'll paraphrase my all time favorite actor, Malcom McDowell. He said that if you hold out for the perfect project every time, you are likely going to go hungry. Sometimes you just have to work, so do what you gotta do. I'm reminded of a joke. What's the opposite of Christopher Reeves? Christopher Walken |

I think that's gonna change with the John Wick franchise. As for topic, Jason Biggs for American Pie. |

You're thinking of being typecast to a particular role/career/movie, that kind of thing. As for knowing any myself, well Pelador already mentioned Rowan Atkinson and Yondaime mentioned Keanu Reeves. Can't really think of actual typecast actors, since I found out later that Will Smith was in Independence Day and I had only seen him in Men In Black and Michael Ironside in Starship Troopers (though he's probably more famous for providing the voice of Sam Fisher). Strangely enough for some reason Michael Caine will be Alfred to me (though I actually know he does have a full career in movies) Yeah... sorry for not really answering but I don't really watch a lot of stuff to notice. Just wanted to help out the wording a bit. Wait... Bruce Willis (for Die Hard) and Alan Rickman (for Harry Potter) would be possible contenders. Edited by PineappleHead, Mar 27 2015, 03:06 PM.

-Heath Legder's take as The Joker on The Dark Knight comes to mind, even if his performance was pretty overhyped. -Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter, I don't think anyone can't see Anthony without thinking of Hannibal. -Jeremy Irons, I believe everyone will call him "Scar" even in movies where his character is absolutely different. Those are the first ones that come to mind. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |
