Not talking about semi-professional works like TFS here just the regular kind people seem to make for no reason I can figure out. Boredom? Do they think people enjoy it? DO people enjoy it? Or is it like that video of an unattractive girl singing where it has millions of views simply because it's bad? I don't get why people bother to make them do people find subs so terrible they'd rather listen to on teenager try to do the voices of a whole cast of characters?

I think a good answer to this has a tooonnnnnn of factors. Why do people make them? I think lot of it stems from them wanting to voice act for anime, so they just do it! They choose the shows they do maybe because they love the show and want to be a part of a production of it, or because they hate the dub and think they can improve it. Maybe they just want voice acting experience and figure they may as well create a project they can view later on while they're at it. It may not be the show itself, but a character who they really feel close to and want to be say they've played them in a project to strengthen that dub (although, this could also stem from craycray anime drama where people want to be able to "claim" a character more than someone else). Why do people listen? Maybe they genuinely enjoy it. Maybe they're so anti-whatever studio DID dub it professionally they decided to support the fandub, maybe the show hasn't been professionally dubbed yet, maybe it's a free dub, maybe it's cringe-worthy. Maybe they were in it, or a friend was. I do think a lot of people enjoy fandubs, and I'm sure some are very well-done. Regardless, choosing to support them instead of the official material hurts the industry, since you're basically not paying for access to the same intellectual property as customers do. But there's like this whole culture to fandubs I don't quite understand. |

I would imagine that most of them are lame; I haven't had much exposure. However, I did in the past, watch a fandubbed Episode of Bardock, which was at least passable. Good quality mics and decent acting. |
