I wanted to give that first part an 8-9/10 in honesty, but the second half was such a let down. Enjoy it while it's amazng I agree. The series is amazing up until that point. Huge Spoiler. Do not read unless you've seen the series. I hear it's because outside people couldn't support "the bad guy winning" and strong armed the author into everything post-L. Spoiler: click to toggle In fact the Manga was always planned to have 108 chapters, I forget why but the number is significant in Japan. It got to the point where he actually had to pad the latter half of the series out, making it drag quite a bit. This wasn't really the case in the anime, which cut a lot of stuff from the second half out.

Heart breaking to be honest, but the final two episodes are pure gold. I dont think, as a whole, it translates very well into anime* but its a great show and has a amazing finale. (* When i say this I mean, general story wise its great, but it seems to be word for word from the manga, which is a lot of things to be saying in one go. For me personally, I prefer the books to the show as it reads better, if that makes sense)

If the creators would of chickened out and had any other ending, this series would have been a huge disappointment. It's a good series but not the vaunted masterpiece that some would leave you to believe.
