SSJ4 brings the user at your limits, Mystic brings you to the limits and even further beyond. SL SSJ4 pretty much does the same but it depends on the power he gets through others.

I guess it depends on your opinion here. If you think the "beyond limits" boost was big then SSJ4 Gohan would lose if you think it's not all that much then Gohan would propably still win but harder.

Mystic Gohan's power was a bit over an SSJ3's (though of course for Goku that got retconned) and SSJ4 is quite a big jump up from that and is FAR less taxing on energy, according to Goku, who also said that it's "4 Saiyans at full power." So with all that considered it basically comes down to who's using it. Goku and Vegeta as fighters were far superior to Gohan even though he has far greater potential. Gohan is untrained and out of practice vs Buu, so even with his potential unlocked that's still just untamed power being locked in place, it's not being used properly. SSJ4 proved to be quite powerful, beating foes such as Baby Vegeta and Super 17, but that would still require someone who really knows what they are doing; Gohan does not. Also, quite simply, potential changes, but SSJ4 is a consistent power boost with a set multiplier, SSJ4 is arguably a more urgent threat to Super Buu depending on his state. Buutenks took down Gohan quite easily but that could be down to Gohan not wanting to put Piccolo and Gotenks at risk. SSJ4's are far more aggressive and closer to a primitive state, so arguably that factor would be gone, and the sheer explosive power of the form could probably put Buu on the ropes even with Gohan's rusty technique. Of course the problem here is Buu's regeneration, and a simple kamehameha won't prevent that, Gohan could not have won any way he'd tried in either form, it took Goku's supercharged spirit bomb to defeat Kid Buu, who is apparently weaker than full power Super Buu, so to take down Super Buu himself would likely require even more power, which even Goku could not acquire until getting used to the SSJ4 transformation. I don't think Gohan would win either way, but who knows, considering the benefits of both forms it could at least be an interesting fight.
