I was just thinking how redundant the word most is in the title. Best already implies the highest standard or quality of something you can get. On a more serious note compared to my previous post, I don't really know since I've received advice regarding different aspects of life, and I can't say that one advice beats the other -- they've all been helpful. |

I can't really think of any I'm more of an advice giver really when friends and family need my help with something I turn in to this wise old man that's experienced all life's wonders and tragedies... Most of the time people try to give me advice I'll just find a flaw in it. It's not quite advice but from Scrubs "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will hurt forever" Made me realize either when to shut my mouth and not let what's in my head ruin a friendship or when to hurt someone badly without getting violent when I feel like they really really deserve it for doing the same to me. |

Tomorrow is another day. No need to sweat the small stuff, there will be another day to fix anything. And if not, well hey, you're done with this finite existence. |

The best piece of advice I've ever been given and it's truly resonated with me throughout the years was a very simple sentence "Happiness is nothing but a moment". Meaning that being happy means you have happy moments. It's not a fixed state of mind. Nobody is always happy, we all go through struggles and doubts. And sometimes we get stuck in the idea that when we're feeling down our entire life has no value, no meaning, that we have nothing good to live for. I think what I liked so much about that advice was that it gave me a very simplistic way to relativize all my emotions and understand that they're all going to happen in their right moments. The good and the bad ones. I could be feeling incredibly sad and angry and confused at one time, but I know I will eventually watch a movie I like and feel happy in that moment, hang out with a friend and feel happy, I will drive from work at night singing out loud to all my favorite music and in that moment, I'll be happy. In all our complexity and intricacy as human beings, it's nice to find a simple, yet realistic way to look at things. |

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." My best friend/roommate's dad used to tell us that when we were kids, all the time. It's probably not the best I've recieved overall, or even from him, but the words he used to drill in my head, because he cared for me much like his own son, had a big influence on the vast amount of independence I hold so dearly today. The following 2 quotes I found them in some book in the library while I was preparing for my exams in my second year of college, "Fortune Favours the bold" " In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present." The following one was once quoted by one of my professors " Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it." (Sorry that I actually don't remember the names of the actual persons who quoted it.But these quotes widened my understanding of life and somehow remained ingrained within my mind) |

Don't sweat the little things or you'll always be waiting and expecting something to wrong, and you'll never move forward. Another is a very old friend told me that if you look for the perfect woman then you'll be waiting your entire life... look for what's perfect for you. |
