For those that watched the Superbowl; Seahawks pass on 2nd and goal

So what are your thoughts on the decision to pass on second and goal? Should they have given the ball to Marshawn Lynch?

I think running the ball would have been the safer course of action, but hindsight is always 20/20.

My Dear Melancholy,

Where's my Goken where you need him?

Here's what my mom said about the play:
Last nights play goes in the "smart if it works stupid if it doesnt" bin. If the play worked its "New England was expecting Lynch but Seattle outsmarted them and threw it". If I go to the gas station to get gas and they're out of gas, it doesn't mean I had a bad plan. It means my plan didn't work.

My mom just owed anyone who thought it was a bad play. I know next to nothing about football. So she might be wrong...

If they had tried to run into the endzone and failed, wouldn't we still be saying what a stupid play it was? Why didn't they throw it we'd ask. To be honest I actually thought it was very good defensive play. They read it and countered effectively.

It was a 50/50 chance and they got the s*** end of 50. I'm okay with it but I'd understand the Seahawks fans being irate.

Absolutely awful play call. If they scored, I and many others would still question the decision but be like "well at least it worked" Give it to Lynch, that's it.

And nobody would say anything if they ran it 3 straight times with Lynch and failed to score. If they couldn't get it in from the 1 yard line with Lynch, then tip your hats and take your loss.

Worst play call of all time. Lynch is arguably the best the best power back of this generation. 1 timeout 30 seconds 2nd and goal. He's gonna get in.

I agree completely. If the pass worked, I would have been very surprised and said 'that was a risky move'.

I wouldn't fault them if they tried to run it and failed. I would commend the effort and acknowledge the Patriot's defense.

There's also been some talk of the Seahawks being flagged for an illegal pick play even if the pass was completed. If thats true, the call ends up being bad no matter what.

Yeah exactly. It isn't one of those "Either they look stupid or they look like geniuses" This was either look like idiots with a ton of luck or just plain idiots. Awful, no matter how you slice it.

wasn't enough time to run it 3 times even with the time out more than likely.

el pres from barstool sports blog was at the after party and def coordinator for pats says they baited them into that play and if I recall even pete carrol admitted he fell for the bait.

horrible call none the less with what the seahawks have for receivers. I could understand a pass near the sidelines lob pass type deal then run the rest.

all in all one of the great games in nfl history imo. and im 100 richer.

They had like 28 seconds. Run it with Lynch there, take a timeout. Assess the situation, if you run it again, you can get to the line with plenty of time for 4th down.
