Favorite: Budokai 3(Soon to be overtaken by Xenoverse I would imagine): I like this one the most because the gameplay is a lot deeper than most Dragon Ball games. I also like that there aren't a bunch of different versions of every character. Being able to play as "Scouter Vegeta" and jump to SSJ4 is pretty much the best thing ever. Beyond that, I also like how the story was handled. Playing as one character and experiencing the story from their perspective while collecting dragon balls and useful items on an overworld map you can travel through at supersonic speeds is really fun. As for things I don't like, Dragon Rush is hugely repetetive after a while. I always dread being thrusted into a Dragon Rush because it's essentially a semi-interactive cutscene that is always the same! Lastly, I don't like how short-lasting fusions are in this game.
Honorable Mentions: Raging Blast 2 and Sparking! Meteor
Least Favorite: Ultimate Tenkaichi and Dragon Ball Z for Kinect: To be honest, I dislike Dragon Ball Z for Kinect more than Ultimate Tenkaichi, but I really don't think there's much they could have done to make it much better than it is. The problem with the game is the idea itself. That being said, Ultimate Tenkaichi is also my least favorite because the gameplay is beyond shallow. It's essentially a game of rock-paper-scissors. The story covers most of the important events the franchise has to offer, and it even has newly animated cut scenes for important events. The problem with this story is that certain fights are cut because of the character roster. It also doesn't help that the story isn't fun to play through because of the piss poor gameplay. Perhaps the biggest let down this game offers though is the beyond shallow character creation/Hero Mode. I was so damn excited when I heard there was going to finally be character creation in a Dragon Ball game, but when I saw just how limited it was, my enthusiasm of the game dropped like a f***ing meteor in the Earth's atmosphere. It also doesn't help that the story for Hero Mode was written by the equivalent of a 5 year old with a budget.
Dishonorable Mentions: Sagas, Taiketsu, Ultimate Battle 22, Legacy of Goku and Final Bout

Attack of the Saiyans, Buu's Fury and Legacy of Goku II were f***ing fantastic. Can play them hours on end still to this day.

GT Transformations would be my least favourite.

Favorite- Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3/DRAGON BALL Z 3

Even though successors may be technically superior in terms of pure fighting mechanics (except Burst Limit which I've only played a few times and barely remembered), B3 had a special quality to it that no other has yet to achieve. It had pretty much everything in a DBZ game. High replay value, great graphics, the fighting mechanics were a massive improvement over the first two Budokai's, the authentic voice work, and atmospheric soundtrack. Hell, I think the game still holds up pretty well even to this day.

Least Favorite- Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z

See I never went into the PS3 era or beyond, the last DBZ game I ever played was probably Tenkaichi 3.

Favorite: Budokai 3/Tenkachi 3

Let's face it, Budokai 3 is a masterpiece. Great gameplay, great style. It was awesome after all those other Budokai games to finally play as a second and third form Freeza. The battles were intense, the controls were great. Let's face it, as far as as those games went, this was the best DBZ game there is. I dare say its probably my overall favorite.

As for Tenkaichi 3, I think its not as good but it offers exactly what I wanted. I've always wanted a DBZ game where I more or less had free roam where I could take a character and just fly around. So when the first Tenkachi game came out, I was so happy. It was what Sagas should've been. In fact if they putt he same thing as Tenkaichi with Sagas and took out all the bugs I think you'd get an amazing game.

I mean imagine a free roam game as your favorite character, battling your way thorugh the sagas and just having so much fun. Perhaps add in Budokai 3 character rankings and stuff like they do in the battle zone (or whatever it was called, its been a while) and you'd have a great game.

Least favorite: Final Bout.

What an awful game. I guess when I first saw it I was expecting some kind of a Budokai-esque game, boy was I wrong. Sloppy controls, horrible acting (which of course was before Funimation started doing anything) It was a just a game that didn't flow well especially when I was playing the original Budokai before. It certainly went to show how far DBZ games have come along.

Of course from what I've hear, Final Bout may be a masterpiece to something like Ultimate Tenkaichi.

Trust me, Brofist. Nothing is worse than Final Bout.

Thinking back at it maybe I hate Final Bout more. Battle of Z may suck dragon balls but at least there's a trace of substance and had potential. Final Bout is just... godawful. One of the worst I've ever played.

Favorites, RB2, BT3, and UT

RB2 is probably the most "competitive" DBZ game and I like the variety of supers and characters. I do suck at it in comparison to people who frame-trap you and land 6000 damage combos with ease.

BT3 has so much variety in characters and the Wii version is just fun with the motion controls. There are balancing issues though

UT looks beautiful, I enjoy anything to do with Supers. The gameplay is simple, but good enough. The Hero mode is fun enough to make me like it

Least Favorites
Budokai 3, BOZ, and DBZ Kinect
Budokai 3 falls into the trap of making things impossible to unlock. I want my Frieza with every super move, not grinding the tournament just for the privilege of actually playing a character to the fullest. Every character has quite literally, the same moveset in terms of physical attacks, they don't even look different. The Super Attacks become finishing moves rather than things to equalize(if you're losing, your stamina bar is going to prevent you from doing anything with a Super Attack). Dragon Rush is completely luckbased as it doesn't matter which button is pressed, it leads into the exact same cutscene and there is nothing you can do but hope to get lucky.

Another thing that irks me about it is the fact that there are no time periods for characters, it means that to fight with Majin Vegeta, get beaten up. For Mecha-Freeza, get koed. Also, the balancing is simply horrible as certain characters have no ultimate attacks and as such, are heavily handicapped.

As for Battle of Z, the graphical style is ugly and all the attacks look like crap. The gameplay is stupid, if I'm a DBZ character, I don't want to run on the ground like a ninja, I want to fly around. Also, the team mechanic is horrific

DBZ Kinect is UT with all the mind games taken out, horrible controls, and no Hero mode

So wait BT3, RB2, and UT are great but B3 is bad because the characters play the same? I'm betting you sucked at Budokai 3.

And RB2 is far too unbalanced to be considered "competitive".

I just hate Final Bout so much. I mean I guess I couldn't expect the same thing from it that I did from Budokai 1 on the Playstation 2. But still this was Playstation, the same system where I was playing Tekken, and that was amazing so I don't know why they couldn't do that here.

Haha. I suck at most fighting games in the way that I can't do corner combos or whatever with resets. But Budokai 3's differences consist of reach and comboability, to my knowledge. Is there any other? UT, BT3, and RB at least have different animations, B3 doesn't

Hence quotations. It's a large improvement over BT3's super spamming Omega or super armor Broly or UT's strike booster knocking you the f*** out.

Tekken is easily the best fighting game out there. Just thought i'd throw that out lol.

Final Bout had a lot of potential but the unresponsive controls and some weird gameplay elements killed it. OST in the game was awesome though.

Certain attacks have priority over others, characters that have similar inputs that do different things or have different attributes (I.E. #18's >KKKKK chain is a juggle infinite and chargeable at the last but most others who have that chain aren't), certain characters have attacks/chains that are faster/slower than others (I.E. Broli is probably the slowest character overall in the game contrasting his high damage output), characters have attacks/chains that are completely unique to them etc.

It's not Tekken or Virtua Fighter diverse but saying they're all the same I think is a stretch. Oh and I agree with the DIMPS games having a lot of canned animation.

Favorite: Dragonball Z: Attack of the Saiyans (DS)
Least Favorite: Dragonball Z: The Legacy of Goku (GBA)

I really wish they decided to make a sequel to Attack of the Saiyans, that game is a gem. Legacy of Goku on the other hand... Is not fun to play. At the start you are pathetically weak, you have a limit to flying throughout the whole game and the bosses are just horrid... A lot of unenjoyable things in the game. Thankfully they fixed it in Legacy of Goku 2.
