 He's a bit harsh on the port. It's a really good port with polished visuals and a remastered soundtrack. But yeah that was still a trollish thing to do by SquareEnix. Their executives are a bunch of bum holes on crack.

 The one thing I cannot stand about the PC version of FF7 is those f*ck-ugly backgrounds.

Of course, there are mods make them look better, but if Square doesn't include something of that variety in the PS4 version, it's going to suck.

Otherwise, my reaction was "eh".

 Which PC version are you referring to because there was an older one that pretty much everyone modded and there was a more recent one which I thought looked as good as it could look without remodeling the sprites.

 I don't get what people expect from a remake.

it'd either be so similar that it's pointless remaking it or so different that it wouldn't be the same, there's no way it would give the same feel people want from it.

If you want to play Final Fantasy 7...play it then, it's right there.


I find it annoying how people complain to no end about remakes and remasters and then moan that games like this don't get remade, with all the bad press about them why would SE risk it? It'd be massively easy to f*** up.
Plus it would take forever to make hasn't 15 been in development for like 5 years or more? Or 13 took that long, can't remember.


They should just focus on making future games as solid as the old ones imo.
Or at best a FF7 sequel set some years after with new characters as well as old ones.

 I'd love to see a sequel where Red XIII's clan is built up again, Barett's daughter is grown up, Yuffie is head of the ninja clan or something and Cid has created something like NASA. Not sure about the rest maybe Cloud could be an instructor or a crazy hermit and Tifa...some kind of business women who owns clubs?

So long as they were mostly old, decrepit and/or untrained so it made sense for them to not utterly trounce any evil, new characters rising up would work. Or maybe the new evil could have taken their powers.

I would just hope that Sephiroth didn't come back, maybe something to do with Jenova's race but not Sephiroth beyond mentions and flashbacks.

Wouldn't it be cool if the main character could attain Masamune? That'd be an epic throwback.

A sequel has so much more potential, so long as the villain/bad event makes sense.

The steam version.

That one had a higher internal resolution (less aliasing leads to sharper 3D models), but the 2D backgrounds still looked like crap.

You still need something like this, even for the new one.
