What are some rpgs that you think are under rated. In other words, what games in the genre aren't talked about or appreciated enough? For me it's probably the Lunar series. I had my first experience with this game last year for the PSP and my goodness it was fantastic. Just the colours and the battles, the soundtrack and the story. Everything. It was brilliant. Another series which isn't talked about a whole lot is the Breath of Fire series. Although I think it is mentioned more than Lunar, it's still uncommon for people to list any of the games in their top rpgs. Even though Breath of Fire 3 for the Playstation was a damn master piece. Then there's the Dungeons and Dragons PC game, The Temple of Elemental Evil. Based on the old tabletop game, the initial release for PC was a broken mess. It had game breaking glitches like how you couldn't loot key items and how some npcs wouldn't give you quests for no apparent reason. However once the modding community got their hands on it and released a patch to fix all this, it was bloody great. They even threw in entirely new maps, enemies, quests and towns. In fact it was more like dlc than a patch. They did a great job. Know any others you think aren't talked about enough? |

Diablo III was fun; it had a great deal of problems at launch (useless legendaries) in addition to other unsavory/undesirable crap (always online, auction house), but in its current state, I have to recommend it. It's got all kinds of kick-ass, unique items that are so much fun to use. Oh and its loot system is second to none. Yeah, it may not be an actual RPG (it lacks any real story as well as characterization), but for what it is, it's great. Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and XIII-3 were great fun. Sure the narrative kind of sucked, but at least the characters were interesting. Final Fantasy XII was also good; I really liked the battle system (reminiscent of my favorite RPGs, SW:KotOR) and I also liked the license board and gear system. Its story was pretty lean and thoroughly well-trodden, but still decent. |

Skies of Arcadia: Legends! This game was great! It had super powered pirates, massive exploration, crazy monsters, over the top special attacks, flying airships, hot alien chicks, the whole shebang. And it wasn't all whiny like Final Fantasy VII. Vyse is more badass than Sora, frankly I'd take Aika or Fina over what's her face, and Gilder could solo Lloyd Irving and the rest of the Tales of Symphonia clowns with ease. It's just such a cool game! Such a pity it'll never get a sequel. |

When you say rare, eh it's on the scarce side. It'll run you between 50 to 90 bucks on Ebay, and the game is over 10 years old. Kinda like Jedi Outcast and Budokai Tenkaichi three. |

Wow, a Dreamcast game. Anything for that console has got to be pretty scarce. |

There are versions of it on the 3DS but I don't know if they are sequels or direct ports.

Lol dammit Pel I put the baby down for nothing! Now where did I put her? Also if we're still on the subject, I think Pokemon Colosseum was severely underrated. It was a cool, dark Pokemon story that actually switched up the formula, even if it was only a little bit. I honestly think THAT was what the series needed to breathe life back into it. |
