Pilaf was Goku's most dangerous adversary so I'm not surprised he's back. Which villain was it who built his own, fairly accurate Dragon Radar? And which villain was it who was a few syllables away from world domination? Pilaf - that's who! |

Not really, she's very childish from a psychological perspective. Pilaf is alive because isn't even 60 yet.... How is his relevance ridiculous? Their shenanigans made sense in Battle of Gods, and I thought they were humorous bunch from the beginning of their introduction. I'm personally glad they're sticking around. Dragon Ball is popular for it's characters and lore. The intense fights are merely a bonus. Furthermore, The serious business aspect of the series was starting to fade around the Majin Boo arc. This focus on comedy should come as no surprise. |

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Pilaf some sort of God power up. |

But she is still like 30 or older it doesn't matter how she acts or what state her body is in she's still an adult and he's like 10 or 11... There is no justifying how weird that is, you wouldn't see a 30 year old dating an 11 year old and be seeing people like "the 30 year old acts like a child though so it's fine" would you? Why bother with Pilaf? He's not mentioned for like all of DBZ now he's showing up just to waste time and he does nothing interesting still trying to be bad even though like literally every character could deal with him. Considering most of the popularity these days comes from the west it is the action people want not the dry comedy. |

She's around 50 or so years old. Eh, I could justify it quite easily. Her hormones merely returned to their original child-like state as a result of her becoming a child. Pilaf is an easy go to for comic relief, beyond that, a Dragon Ball callback doesn't hurt every now and then. Do you have any statistics that support your theory? |

Because pilaf had nothing to do with Z. They brand the movie as DbZ because lets face facts DBZ made the franshcie global as opposed to just a minor japan export like dragonball. Z is serious. It's about fighting, Saiyans, Namekians, and larger than life battles the human eye has trouble tracking. It was not about pilaf, Roshi, launch, gags, bacterial, or any of that. It's about death battles, blood, and genocidal villains that make King piccolo look tame. There was literally a reason dragonball was relased basically as a prequel on Toonami. Z was the steak dinner, the other two were mere appetizers and desserts Edited by Kblo247, Jan 27 2015, 12:31 AM.

It's all Dragon Ball to me, and it's not like humor hasn't been ever present in this franchise, regardless of it's darker tone at certain points. Anyway, I have to ask, what exactly do you mean when you say Pilaf has nothing to do with Z? I assume you mean his comedic nature is in conflict with the tone of Z, but then I'd only need to point to specific instances of gag throughout the entirety of Z, like the Ginyu Force for example. DBZ isn't solely serious business. |

Prince Pilaf never appeared in DragonBall Z until Battle-of-Gods.

Pilaf never once appeared in the Z arc. He was part of the dragonball tale in manga and animated series, but he was basically deader than Launch as an after thought until Toei made GT. Z itself starts with Raditz and ends with Uub. I know the manga is the source, but the anime is what made them their money, more importantly the global success and branding of DBZ which wasn't about gags, Bulma flashing people, a fighter who only is feared because he smells, or Ranfan etc. Yes I know Satan and the Ginyu force brought comedy, but at the end of the day it was basically 90% action as opposed to its prequel in anime continuity which is what dragonball was presented as to most a global audience. There's a lot more people who saw it in the order DBZ, DB, and DBGT than straight thru. Frieza wasn't meant to be silly. Cite the Ginyu force if you want to because of well Guldo and the poses, but at the end of the day when Recoome started fighting it got dead serious. I can take pilaf being in the movie just to show Mai and Trunks, but I can't take it serious if he does his gags. He has no place for that in a movie based in the Z continuity. Really and truly, Yamcha, Tien, Roshi, and Chaiotzu having a role is pushing it because Frieza and Namek were really about Goku, Vegeta, Picolo, Krillin, Gohan, Dende, and Bulma Edited by Kblo247, Jan 27 2015, 02:32 AM.

When did I claim he was?
Well then I suppose the Majin Boo arc doesn't belong in Z's continuity because it has a heavy focus on comedy. I mean, I certainly wouldn't consider the Majin Boo arc serious business. Edited by ThePrinceOfSaiyans, Jan 27 2015, 04:14 AM.

What does everyone think of Freeza absorbing other version of himself [alternate variations of himself in other universes] energies? ^ Like that's one part of his evolution power-up, and the second was granted to him by Whis? |

I wouldn't mind a theory like The One where Freeza goes from universe to universe, killing the other versions of himself and absorbing their power. |

1. How was that movie? It only got a 5.9 rating from IMDb. 2. This is the only way I can try to make sense of the movie. Freeza died by the hands of Future Trunks, right? Off course.... from Cell to Boo, is like 7 years difference and Battle of Gods takes place 5 years after Boo arc, right? For this movie "Fukkatsu no F", to be a real continuation of the manga, it has to follow the rules that it set out, and the only way for the movie to do that is, having Freeza's henchmen find the Dragon Balls within one year of his death, and have Freeza plot his revenge from their. |

Its possible that Pilaf and company will have very little to do with the movie at all. I imagine they will basically delegated to the background, serving little purpose besides reacting to all the action and fighting that is going on. Maybe protecting Mai gives Trunks something do do while Freeza's army rolls over Earth. Pilaf is close to a blast that throws him head first into the ground. The others pull him up by the feet and he remarks that he is getting to old for this. Not exactly comedy gold but that kind of stuff is all over the series. As long as it's kept to a minimum I won't complain. Plenty of other characters have been given the job of watching a battle in awe. If the Z Fighters are going to be fighting PTO guys I have no problem with Pilaf filling this role. Edited by Southern Gothic, Jan 27 2015, 05:21 AM.
