Alright, just finished watching the Imagine-Nation special on Fukkatsu no F. It's uploading now, but here's some details from what I remember:

The hosts are exceptionally annoying and the narration was very uninformed. At one point he says "Gohan...Goku's only son!" and then later talks about how the last film was drawn "through CG" and this film done by hand. Very strange. I guess it was just poor research by the producers of the show.

That nonsense aside, there was lots of new footage and a load of interesting new tidbits from the staff interviews!

In an interview with Yamamuro, he talks about the attention to detail he put into the martial arts choreography. He breaks down a shot of Piccolo fighting off some of Freeza's men and mentions how his legs would bend in a certain way to accommodate the attacks he was pulling off.

Later, he mentions that Toriyama's screenplay wasn't very descriptive and that, in particular, the mass battle scene simply said "1000 enemies appear with the Z warriors fighting them off" and "this is the greatest battle of all time" with no other detail. It was up to him and his animation team to fill in the details!

Moreover, Yamamuro struggled to visualise Toriyama's idea of hell as the description was so alien to him. He eventually based it on a lake in Austria called "The Green Lake".

The Producer of the film, Horihiro Hayashida, mentioned that the theme of the film was "going back to the source". He revealed that he came up with the idea for bringing back Freeza to fight Goku once again. Strangely, he then talks about how he wanted this film to be all Toriyama.

It was a decent enough watch. I'd love to have seen of these interviews in full as all the narration and parts with the hosts were just awful.
There's stuff in the actual interview that's wrong too. Hayashida says that bringing Frieza back was his idea, yet AT specifically said before it was his own idea. Even how he thought if it:

Even Hayashida himself said that before:

AT also mentioned before how he got carried away obsessing "over the smallest bits of dialogue".

Yeah, I imagine there are a few mistranslations here and there, but it was interesting to hear what Freeza's Hell was based off of.

Interesting. It is said that everyone's hell is different to them. I'm guessing they intricate that onto the movie. Nice.

Not on screen there isn't. I think it's safe to assume though that SSJ God Vegeta's hair would be red.

What happened to Akira Toriyama's interview when he said he felt blue was a weak color and red was strong?

So does that mean he becomes SSJ God in between the two movies? I would have liked to see him achieve the form for the first time.

Some Herms' translated Volume F tidbits from over on Twitter:

  • Toriyama thought he couldn't make Freeza's design any simpler, so he changed the color instead. Thus Golden Freeza was born!
  • SSGSS's blue hair was in order to emphasize that Goku is tranquil in this form, and keeps a level head in battle.
  • Bulma had Capsule Corp's development department knock up Vegeta's (slightly) new-and-improved armor under her instructions.

The hair salon worker in me wants to change the shade of Vegeta's blue.

Part of his character development?

Here's the full quote:
Toriyama

I made his hair light blue to express how “by overcoming a certain limit he has become both strong and tranquil, able to keep his composure in a fight”.
It's on Kanzenshuu's movie guide page for Revival of F.
