Maybe my evaluation will change once I properly see the movie...but from the synopsis and reviews...this movies sounds awful. I don't mean like Freeza wearing golden pants or Bluper Saiyan. I mean like...badly written, badly directed, badly produced movie and not in your typical bland DBZ movie kind of way.

I mean like, rushed bad with nothing good in it. You have apparently have these horrible CGI scenes which would be bad enough. But you put them on what is probably the most iconic scene of the movie? Between Bluper Goku and Golden Freeza? I mean, don't you want to have the most focus and best animation process for what may be the most important scene and fight of the movie?

And now music? I can understand that at some points you would want some silence here and there and I won't begrudge you on that. But goodness it seems like half the movie has no music. And it has no music on what seems to be the best parts, Goku and Vegeta's fights with Freeza. Like I'd imagine an almost triumphant fanfare as Vegtea beats on Freeza or something.

I remember how much this was done in the Original Japanese where there was a lot of silence and I hated it. Say what you want about the Funimation Dub but it put emotions in the scenes and really brought your energy up. It's something that was definitely improved when Kai came around and the Japanese version started using a lot more music.

I mean some music in. Unless you use something stupid, its not going to hurt. In fact it would enhance the scene. Get some action music for an action scene. I can understand wanting some silence here and there but use them for basic, unimportant scenes, not for your major fight scene.

And then at the end, we have our heroes. Goku and Vegeta, pretty much saying that though they could have teamed up and finished things quickly instead bulls*** pride excuse. Ahem...not that its a...nice subject to bring up. But wasn't the whole thing with Vegeta attacking Cell about denying his pride and fighting for the sake of his son who died? No? Fair enough? What about the part where he sacrifices himself to stop Majin Boo for the sake of his family? That was his Saiyan Pride speaking again? Goodness knows your such a tough book to read Vegeta.

...Ummm? How much pride did Vegeta have when he began singing and dancing Bingo? Was that Saiyan Pride? Vegeta would you like us to take responsibility and make a Genki-Dama for you and chuck it at Freeza?

God! I'm sorry, I'm really sorry and I really want to like this movie just as a typical DBZ movie. I was so excited when Freeza was coming back because I recognize him as a great villain. But this movie, this synopsis, these reviews, every time I read them, I just think how awful and rushed this movie seems to be and I really hope I'm wrong.
If you go in with a rock up your a***, you may come out with a boulder.

Although the movie did transition rather quickly, it was funny, entertaining, and action-packed. My brother and I thoroughly enjoyed it and we have been watching DB/DBZ/DBGT since we were 4 or 5.

20-something years later and we were cracking up! As a matter of fact, the entire audience was!
Well unlike you simple folks who can be mindlessly entertained by keys on a chain. I actually like effort.

Not a badly CGI, music-less, golden pants wearing, 2nd player alternate blue haired Super Saiyan and badly written characterization of a movie.

This is good entertainment? Get real! This better be some damn good animation and stuff, with some excellent, balls dropping fight scenes and stuff. Because everything else here from the simple character designs to the story telling and the way they've treated Goku and Vegeta's character sounds awful.

This movie came out because:

1.) BOG was successful enough

2.) Toriyama heard some Japanese metal ban screaming "Freeza!" and decided he was going to make an entire movie just from listening to that.

This really just says how low you guys have set the bar to think this counts as a good entertainment when we know Toriyama can do so much better.

Oh boy. Are you implying effort wasn't put into this film? You do realize the choreography tries to replicate ACTUAL martial arts, don't you? You do realize this movie has the ol' Toriyama flare in regards to the character's and comedy, right? Come on. You're understanding of the film is as shallow as it can get as you're basing your opinions of a few f***ing synopsis'. Furthermore, your complaints only consists of the use of CGI, a lack of music in scenes that SHOULD be silent, and Vegeta's character development. Seriously, Vegeta has pride, always will, or did you not remember where Vegeta getting upset when Kuririn called him a model citizen in BoG, saying, "The Saiyan prince will not tolerate mockery!" The only reason he was so willing to put that pride aside in Battle of Gods was because he knew he was sorely outclassed, and he knew if Beerus were to become upset, he'd lose everything he loved. With Freeza? It doesn't sound like he was that big of a threat, at the very least, certainly not anywhere close to the caliber of Beerus in Battle of Gods.

Btw, did they ever explain why Freeza is trapped in that ball in Hell? We were explained that evil people don't keep their bodies but apparently Freeza was a special case. Was this explained as a sort of special punishment for all that he did?

Get off your high horse, princess.

No one here is mindlessly entertained. I was even slightly disappointed after reading the synopsis, but went into the movie with an open mind. I am telling you, the synopsis on Kanzenshuu does not do the movie justice.

If you haven't seen the movie, I suggest you keep your claims to fact as your opinion and yours alone.

Get off your high horse, did I not already say that I could do a proper evaluation once I saw the movie? But its pretty clear that if the synopsis and reviews are anything on what the movie is like, this is not a good movie. It's mindless entertainment at best and not worth coming after BOG.

The movie serves its purpose, which is to further Goku and Vegeta's God-training and as a bridge to the next movie.

Well I'm glad they at least explained that whole thing with Freeza's hell. When I first heard of that I kept wondering...why? Because of course it was interfering with everything that I knew about people keeping their bodies after they died. But I guess Freeza was indeed such an evil person that he was given this fate.

Now then can anyone explain why Gohan apparently became a Super Saiyan? I was and still am under the impression that Elder Kaioshin unlocked all of Gohan's potential power and thus everything is basically put into one singular form that looks kind of like his base. It was why when Elder Kaioshin told him to go "Super Saiyan" he does and looks more or less like Base Gohan.

Now apparently things have changed and I don't if this was explained or something but...I'm still confused on that point.

The prequel manga states Gohan has gone so long without training or fighting that he's weakened to a specific point, doesn't mention his mystic state at all.

A popular theory is that Elder Kai unlocking his potential just "reset" Gohan at a much higher level. Think of what he has now as Mystic SSJ, and then stop caring as you realise that either way it's still worthless against enemies like this. Beerus and Gold Freiza dwarf Buu.

I was always under the impression that he basically took all of Gohan's potential power from transformations, potential and what not and just put it down into one singular form. Gohan could still get stronger via training and weaker via not training but kind of as you said, he put Gohan at a specific level that he'd always be at because, as far as I know, you can't lose potential. I don't know though.

But I'm glad that after all this time, some kind of explanation to this all business was finally given. I think last time it was just, the animators kept forgetting and now its like, we better think of something so we don't have to worry about it anymore.

He weakened and didn't train, so his access to that potential began to dwindle down. He uses SSJ to make up for the loss, but he even questioned his ability to do so because, again, no training at all.

So it's like when you're playing pokemon and keep losing your guys to a legendary because you want to catch it instead of KOing it?

That... actually makes sense.
