Aha! I found a way to make the star/fire theory work. It represents a level of mastery over the form. It started out as red/orange, then yellow after absorbing it, then blue after mastering it.

Does that mean that the next stage of the transformation is Goku and Vegeta collapsing under their own mass and becoming a black hole?

The Goku hate comes from him becoming an a***** in the Boo Saga and BOG
What about Kuririn's d*** move that he put his penis before his friends? Kuririn and Vegeta were actually the main reasons why Cell reached perform form, in terms of being directly involved.

Also if that's the criteria, then what about Saiyan arc Goku since the sole reason he spared Vegeta's life was a selfish one which potentially puts his family and friends in danger?

In some sense, Toriyama has always written Goku that way, he loves fighting against strong opponents. People seem to love Goku in Saiyan arc to Freeza arc.

Remember the reason why he wished for everybody else besides him and Freeza to teleported on Namek?

Truthfully, if we exclude Toei movies and GT, Goku wasn't in the spotlight as much as other main stars from other animes. He lost a fair share of fights, especially since he was suppose to be the main character. And Majin Boo arc was a mess, from a out-of-universe explanation, you can see the thought process of Toriyama wanting to go with Gohan as the main star, then later changing his mind. The dialogues during world tournament to Babadi is pretty obvious.

There’s how, basically, Son Goku from Dragon Ball doesn’t fight for the sake of others, but because he wants to fight against strong guys. So once Dragon Ball got animated, at any rate, I’ve always been dissatisfied with the “righteous hero”-type portrayal they gave him. I guess I couldn’t quite get them to grasp the elements of “poison” that slip in and out of sight among the shadows.

With the new movie, don't get me wrong, after what I read about the conclusion of the climax, I wasn't thrilled, actually disappointed that Beers and Whis didn't have a more important role besides cheerleading. It's a shame that all the hype Vegeta got pre-movie and with Freea's new power were thrown away quickly. I wouldn't mind if Freeza was actually more powerful than Goku and Vegeta and the movie ended with Freeza winning. But I still hated how the movie doesn't explain how Freeza knew he only needs 4 month of training.

In some sense, Dragon Ball has become the Japanese Expendables.

If you don't like what you see AVYLES, then you can go gladly take a hike. I don't give a crap what you think with your apologist mentality.
Why don't you take a hike? You've voiced you opinion on this movie too many times for me to count and then you come back to spew out more negativity. It's not helping the atmosphere here.

Why can't he speak on his opinion? Maybe that one post was a bit harsh though but yours was even worse and you are supposed to be the moderator.

Please.

I wish people would stop saying "GT and the movies don't count", they don't count towards canon, no, but they do count towards the tally of how many times I've seen everyone fight the villain, get bested easily like fodder for Goku to then get some power boost/deus ex machina to come in for the win. I mean GT and the movies are especially laughable with it. Whether they are canon or not, we've seen it all before again and again and again and again. I'm not saying I won't enjoy it but The whole "Goku hardly ever wins" argument is bollocks.

Don't start with me. I wasn't being rude, I was just stating facts.

Yes, it's a free-forum but I feel like the negativity is taking over a bit too much. For some members it seems like they've been dead-set on disliking the movie from the start no matter what the makers of the movie produce. Criticism is fine, but what's been presented here lately has been disappointing, really.

No-one is really being rude to members though, other than that one last post you quoted. If they don't like the movie then...

It's not like they say, "f*** all the people that like this s*** movie".

It doesn't have to be that excessive either for the negativity to be plainly visible.

But fine, let bygones be bygones. If Yusuke has a problem with me after that post he can send me a PM.

Well there you have it folks, Toriyama says himself Goku was never meant to be a righteous hero, he just fought for personal reasons that happened to end up being beneficial. In other words, Goku is the anti-hero of his own series when Vegeta is, in an odd twist of fate, the hero. Or Gohan. Or Piccolo. Literally anyone but Goku.

We've always known that Goku isn't the typical hero...he's just 'pure' because he's so dense.

The difference in Goku between sagas and his progressing douchebaggery is quite clear. In the other sagas, he never held back power whilst the Earth or his friends were in danger. Even against Freeza, he knew that Gohan was escaping and he was unaware that Freeza could breathe in space and assumed he was bluffing about the planet thing until Freeza corrected him

BOG Goku jokes and plays around with Beers despite being in a new and unstable transformation and ends up endangering everyone because of it.

Goku has slowly absorbed Vegeta's assholishness whilst Vegeta absorbed Goku's former niceness
