How would killing Freeza do anything for Vegeta but prove that even after all this time, Big Bad Freeza has control over his life and that he needs to kill him to move on?

Vegeta doesn't need to kill Freeza, he already moved on from that.
Well, I have been saying all along that I think bringing back Freeza is stupid to begin with. We've had enough of Freeza and I just feel like bringing him back with yet another transformation is just silly and redundant at this point. BUT SINCE that whole dynamic is indeed being brought back -- it's happening whether I like it or not -- it's not at all outrageous to assume that it will awaken Vegeta's thirst for revenge.
Big Bad Freeza doesn't only have control over Vegeta's life, but the entire planet. He is supposedly coming back as a threat to all of Earth and its fighters, so it's only natural that it will indeed affect Vegeta who was killed by the hands of Freeza before and is forced to deal with him again.
In my mind, Freeza just made the most sense out of any of the other villains Akira could have brought back. He's got so much you could do with him.

Why does Vegeta need to be the one to beat Freeza? That's been gone over so much haha. Summary is this; he has the most history with Freeza, more reasons to do it. I don't think Vegeta has moved on from Freeza. That is something I think will be evident when we see the film. So it's just proper that Vegeta has the spotlight this go around.

And...I'm not a Vegeta fanboy. I've never had a favorite DBZ character. I just have the ones I really like, and other's I tolerate.

I like how we're all debating whether or not Vegeta 'deserves' to defeat Freeza....who cares?! Him getting vengeance would just be more satisfying than anyone else. When Vegeta was a villain it was still satisfying when he defeated Kiwi, Dodoria, Zarbon, Guldo, Jeice etc etc. It was satisfying because Vegeta could go "hey, remember when you were stronger than me? Surprise mother f***er!" Nobody else has the same history to make their victory that significant.

It really wasn't though. I for one though it was far better when Vegeta's smug face was ruined by Zarbon. It's mostly because rather ironically, the people he was killing had a better sense of power than Vegeta did.

I found it more satisfying to watch Vegeta get beaten up in the Saiyan-Cell saga because of his loud mouth and cocky attitude. Hell it was fun watching Goku getting beaten up by Beerus after his "maybe I should take it back down to Super Saiyan 2 for you". In general it's always more satisfying to see the person who talks s*** get their a*** kicked. It depends how he acts in this movie, if it's anything like he's been recently then I wouldn't mind him beating Freeza.

Vegeta does deserve to get a good victory here..maybe not kill freeza but have a huge part or equal part as Goku. And I'm not saying he deserves it because he suffered in Freezas reign. .nope Vegeta was a complete jack a*** and deserved to get beat up and killed...all the way up to the end of dbz. But one thing you can't take away from him is that not only has he changed as a person but nobody wants it more than him... and for that I have to support his cause. Plus it would be a nice change for once.

piccolo and krillin suffered too..but the don't want it. I've lost all respect for Piccolo. .once a mighty warrior, now a gloryfied baby sitter. Start training you dam bumb.

Vegeta deserves a victory come on. The guy has changed A LOT and has had his share of beatings and sacrifing himself for others. And now he finally gets a chance to have a rematch with Frieza and there are people annoyed at vegeta being the hero this time? Gotta be kidding me...

I'm watching BOG again I'm not seeing how Vegeta and Goku are supposed to be the top dogs. The way Vegeta and Gohan talk at certain points makes it seem like they expexted to do better against Beerus. Meh, might just be the way the English version is.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this movie more than I was the last.

I don't know. I find it a little odd that so many think Vegeta doesn't deserve to get vengeance against the ONE person who wanted it from most. Freeza was pretty much the one that got away for Vegeta, and Vegeta has such a history with Freeza and I feel he's suffered far more at his hand than any of DBZ character has. This isn't about Vegeta being the hero for me. It's a long time coming. It makes the most sense, regardless of what anyone else claims against it but hey, people will have their opinions.

Come on April 11th!

If Vegeta needs revenge against Freeza, it basically means that Vegeta still can't get over Freeza. Vegeta killing Freeza isn't too bad, but if it's made into a revenge/honor plot, all it means is that Vegeta was still hung up on his history with Freeza despite throwing everything else away.

That's just it.

I really don't believe Vegeta has moved past his history with Freeza. I think it's something that somehow still motivates him to push forward. Would a revenge/honor plot really be so undesirable? I don't see Vegeta getting his moment being something bad, I think it'd actually build on his character because once it's done, Vegeta can put that to bed and really focus on other things; training, getting stronger, blah blah.

Vegeta did move on from Freeza but now Freeza has come back and somebody needs to stop him soooooo.......

As for Vegeta being a 'd***' and deserving what he got from Freeza...well sort of but whether Vegeta was raised by saiyans or raised by Freza he would have been evil, he had no choice in the matter, he is a product of his experiences and Freeza onluy exasperated the situation by taking his pride and faith in his people from him as well. Vegeta didn't get a convenient nature altering bump on the head and he wasn't raised by kind and encouraging humans. Vegeta actually chose redemption, it was a bumpy road and he didn't do it quickly and had a brief relapse but the Vegeta that exists now had to make the concious decision to better himself but only after he was shown the same kindness that Goku received from birth. Vegeta stopping Freeza would go some way towards atoning for everything he did under the saiyans and Freeza's control because that's what Vegeta's childhood consisted of, emotional child abuse. Of course he turned out evil it's all he was ever shown.

Supposedly, yes. Tenshinhan claims he went ahead without him and Chaozu. Goten, Trunks, and Boo supposedly aren't in the film either as the Zetto Senshii avoided telling the boys, and Boo is in a deep sleep.
