There's just no way in hell what we saw when Future Trunks destroyed Frieza wasn't Frieza being massively obliterated. I wonder if they even bothered providing an explanation as to why the pieces of Frieza were actually intact in the new movie, or if they're just gonna skip that part altogether. Probably the latter.

Or maybe people still commit the crime of having actual expectations regarding their favorite anime, brah.

It's all well and good having expectations, but people should take into account everything. Porunga showed that he could put a person's body back together, doing so with Krillin. in fact, he did it without anyone requesting him to, iirc. There's no reason to assume that Shenron wouldn't be able to do the same, bringing Freeza back intact...well, as intact as he can be without his cybernetic parts.

But then it's very gimmicky to bring him back in pieces and have to have people puzzling him back together, isn't it? Following that analogy he should just come back as his last form that we saw, as Mecha Frieza.
When Shenron says he can only bring back Frieza in his last remaining pieces, you can't help but raise the question: what pieces?!

There was presumably nothing left.

Unless I'm making some sort of confusion with the spoilers, but that's what I gathered from this thread, that Shenron is gonna be like yo ima let you finish but no can do, i'll give you Frieza's remais and you do the rest.

There was nothing left of Krillin, but Porunga was able to create his body just as it was before he died.

We don't know exactly what they do. He comes out of the machine in his first form completely intact, so it's more than just piecing him together.

Shenron does explain why. He said something about not being able to revive Freeza because he lacks a body, so Sorbet wishes for Freeza's body to be revived instead. Apparently Freeza's mechanized body can regenerate because it pieces itself back together.

It should be without the cybernetic parts since Shenron cannot replicate those, like with the Androids.

Porunga did them a favor by piecing Krillin back together on his own.

What? Shenron cannot remove the cybernetics from the Artificial Humans because it would kill them if he did, and Shenron can't kill people. Shenron merely returned Freeza to the way was before he died.

There's a clear incongruity here, isn't there?
Shenron says he can't revive Frieza because he doesn't have a body, yet can revive Frieza's body? Isn't he reviving Frieza if he can revive the remains of Frieza?
I don't know, I just don't see a whole lot of logic with all of this. I think it's more of a lame gimmick to make Frieza's return more epic to the viewers than anything else.

I think Shenron is just beating around the bush because he doesn't want to help Sorbet and Tagoma  .

Speaking of Golden Freeza. I read an interesting theory somewhere on the internet (not on dbzf, but I can't remember where) saying that Frieza's final, ultimate form is golden because all his life he feared super saiyans and eventually met his maker through the hands of super saiyans, so he turns gold in the end as his own, personal appropriation of a super saiyan form. Kind of like the universe giving it back to him his one, genuine wish throughout all his life - beating the legendary super saiyan form.

I thought that was a pretty interesting theory/observation. I'm not sure if they'll use that on the actual plot of the movie -- kinda doubt it, but it could potentially be a cool touch and a cool idea to explore.

You may be joking but I was actually thinking along those lines.

I don't get Shenron's rules. He brought back all the people Cell blew to bits fully intact.
