That doesn't make any sense to have them keep their bodies. He could barely restrain Raditz, Nappa should have been able to pummel him easily.
Freeza came to him as a Soul, but was sent to Hell in a cocoon. At that point Enma trolled him by giving him his mechanized body.
Freeza would have fought back then. I mean, Raditz fought back.
Everyone has to be brought to the check-in station so that would be an inconsistency on the manga's part.

I understand Toriyama is staying away from GT style (big power-ups, new flashy looks, etc), I know AT wants his characters to be simple. Goku had a simple God power-up, Freeza most likely has a simple power-up. I get that.

But this is an lazy attempt because all the major plots are re-versed backwards.

In Freeza arc;

1. Vegeta gets cocky and get his a** handed to him.
2. He begs Goku to kill Freeza.
3. Goku is the only that was able to fight with Freeza (final form).
4. Goku transform into a SSJ and beats up Freeza.

Fukkatsu;

1. Goku gets cocky and say he doesn't need to go SSJ.
2. Goku get's beaten up badly, he begs Vegeta to win this.
3. Vegeta transform into a God or something else, and tells Freeza he's the king of all the Saiyans.

I'm sorry, but it s a lazy attempt.

-Goku literally doesn't need SSJ because it doesn't do him any good anymore.
-We don't know if that's the case or not yet, but I kinda like the role reversal aspect.
-I'm fairly certain Vegeta has already attained Super Saiyajin God. Furthermore, we don't even know if Vegeta is gonna be the one to defeat Freeza.

Most stories aren't particularly original and sometimes the simpler the better. What's interesting is the characters, these are new situations for each character with an old enemy, that's bound to be dramatic.

1. Nevertheless, Goku used SSJ in Battle of Gods to keep up with Beers (could be subconsciously).
2 & 3. What else could it be? We saw in the 3rd trailer, both of them were battle weary. This would be perfect time for Vegeta to reclaim his authority as the king of all Saiyans. Not only defeat the villain who destroyed the Saiyans planet, but surpass Goku.

Izanagi!

You can't conclude anything from a trailer. A lot of the time, they'll imply loads of different things in order to build hype.

Pretty much every saga is a rehash of Goku saving the day in some way. Glad to see him finally get his butt kicked twice in a row.

Truth be told, if Vegeta and Goku is the same ballpark as Freeza's new form (either a God or evolution), then Beers and Whis should be still be powerful than all of them.

It makes me wonder, why use Whis and Beers at all if AT is going to make them side shows in the movie.

To me, I think this is building to Battle of Gods 3.

Vegeta crowning himself king of all Saiyans makes little sense. Wasn't his ridiculous plan in the Boo Saga supposed to mean that he viewed himself as an Earthling and was confident in them(even if it looked butthurt)?

Not to mention he'd crown himself king of all, what, 6-8 Saiyans? Quite the achievement.

Also, if this movie is just going to be done for the sake of sequel hyping, that would be bad

Maybe goku and vegeta surpass them both in whis's training? It's not really far fetched seeing as how goku surpassed all of his masters

Yes, how dare they write this movie with the intention of continuing the story!

You would be correct, but for this movie, we haven't seen any footage of Vegeta fighting or doing anything significant, but train and power-up.

If you remember Battle of Gods trailer #2 (I think or maybe #3), we saw Goku powering up, when the movie came out, we know that scene is from Goku transforming into a God again after he absorbs God form.

I just think Toei is carefully holding back. In trailer #3, we saw Goku got his butt kicked, right? And more importantly, we saw who did it = Freeza.

Vegeta has to be one that defeats Freeza because there is no one else, unless Beers or Whis steps in.

Vegeta doesn't believe he has the 'birth right' to be the strongest saiyan any more. If he does beat Freeza he'll help Goku up and give him a friendly smirk and they'll both get back to competing with each other and Goku will most likely come out on top in the end.

Let Vegeta have his time in the sun pretty please.

I don't think you understand what sequel hyping is. Sequel hyping is when a film is tossed out just for the sake of setting up a sequel. It's a complaint people had with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, that its end goal was to set up a sequel and it devoted a lot of time from the plot to it.

That's a sequel hype movie, where its basing itself on the idea of set-up.

And if Goku comes out in the end, it would make Vegeta's hypothetical victory over Freeza rather pointless then, wouldn't it?
