Pilaf has every right to be in the movies because he was an important part of the beginning of Dragonball and the only real person who persistantly wanted to Dragonballs and never wanted to give up his dream.

These 'other universes' Beerus spoke of. It would fit in that Future Trunks and Cell were actually from other universes' but when Beerus explained it to Goku, he didn't seem to imply these other universes were 'the same but different', to me he seemed to be implying that they were entirely different. I mean like in them the likes of the saiyans, Freeza and Earth never existed at all. Otherwise would that mean the other 11 Gods of Destruction are just different versions of Beerus himself but still pretty much the same? And there are other versions of Goku and Vegeta who are stronger than our version? I don't know, it all sounds a bit complicated.

Stop hating on Freeza. I firmly believe he was 100 times the villain Cell was, aside from the obvious difference in power level. Bringing back Freeza like this, and not as this one hit KO like in other movies and GT (blah blah, none canon rant from everyone...) but as an extremely dangerous threat to Goku and the Earth, the galaxy...universe, I think it is very fitting for Freeza. I think he sort of got the short end of the stick when he had so much potential to be this series long villain, with character development and the like. Freeza coming back is not the wrong move by Akira, rather it is the right one.

What any of us have to say against, it really doesn't matter what any of us think because if Akira wants this for his anime, he'll do it. We're really all just whining brats, crying about what we want instead haha. Akira has been fairly good about giving fans what they want, but it's important he follows his own vision, regardless of what I, or any of you think.

Stop hating on Freeza.
Who's hating on Freeza here?
People that are hung up on, or can't get over how Freeza was from way back in the anime, he died blah blah amount of times, he's ran his course blah blah, he's not as strong as Cell or Buu, they should have brought one of them back because they were stronger blah blah blah, and a bunch of irrelevant things that mean nothing haha.

Fact is; Freeza is a more prominent villain, always has been, just more story there in my opinion and more there to work with. Freeza is the one villain in the entire anime that literally made Goku clearly express fear toward, it doesn't matter that Goku had become 10 times stronger, Goku still has that look of fear in his eyes and is relectant to engage Freeza every time he's encountered him. The things Goku expressed toward any other villain, even Cell, esepcially Buu, were not nearly as intense. Cell and Buu, Goku just expressed that they had to be taken care of, he was never afraid, or feared either of those two. But, put Freeza in front of Goku...stiff with fear, but he'll fight him because he has to.

I am stoked for this new movie and Freeza coming back, and this time not a push over that gets one hit KO'd.

And don't think I'm dissing any of you that don't want Freeza back lol, because I'm not. I've only been here on the forum a short amount of time, but I think I've made it clear that I am a laid back, easy to talk to guy.

I don't think the hate is necessarily aimed at Freeza... but more the idea of bringing back an old villain. It really wouldn't have mattered which one they chose, they still would've gotten flak for it.

I agree ^. Frieza was the greatest villain of dbz. His back story was legit and the Namek story arch was amazing. People are apprehensive because this isn't Namek and poor rehashings of awesome characters hurts their appeal. Look at what GT did to Cell and Frieza, turned them into jokes. I'm not saying that will happen in the next movie but sometimes it's better to leave things be and start fresh.

Still kind of s***ting on the people that made the series progress so far by showing them characters they generally don't care about. As said the series made money and fame because of the Z section anime Pilaf has no business taking up run time.

How many people actually find the Pilaf gang funny?
Like actually funny, not funny because they're so stupid and ridiculous that it makes them funny.

It's just blatant filler material people want the series to progress not go sideways.

What next, bring the Kirllin and Maron thing back? (18 vs Maron would be hilaré though) or maybe some Yamcha romance yeah lets watch that.

Think back to BoG everyone was liKe OMG SUPER SAIYAN GOD not OH MY GOD MORE GAGS.
Gags are fine but the ratio of them was whack compared to Z.

The fights have never been the coolest parts of DragonBall for me, or the jokes. I'm all about the swagger.

The characters and lore are what I like about Dragon Ball. The action is second to those aspects.

Action alone with nothing else is s***. Transformers anyone?

Edit: I'm referring to the Michael Bay variety of course.

Your logic is flawed. He may have wrote it as dragonball, but fox knows damn well that won't sell. There's a reason the film, the merch, and the games are marketed as dragon ball z. DBZ sells more than little Goku and his friends at the three budokais or Toeis GT. You brand it as Dragon Ball Z and send Frieza back into the limelit so you better expect to have the relevant people in Z involved, not pilaf, not launch, not any of their Kind. And you know it is true, otherwise they would present the movie as Dragonball presents

I just think a lot of you are being a little selfish and too much of "I want this, not that" about the new movie. We wanted new characters, he gave us Whiss and Beerus; plenty in my opinion. We're also getting new characters in the new movie, so I'd say some of you are certainly being a little whiny and selfish hahaha. Nobody is ever completely satisfied, but I like to be satisfied with what I do get, because I understand it's a lot of work to put something like this together, and it'd take a lot of time to fit in every little self entitled desire the fans want with this sudden new found life in the series with these movies.

Some of us are being a bit ungrateful for what we've been given. We've been wanting new DBZ for a long time, and we finally have it. Akira could have just kept the series dormant, but he didn't because he wanted to do more with it, and he knew fans wanted it. So stop acting like this my friends. If I was Akira and saw any of this, I'd call those that are complaining, ungrateful little bastards that can't be satisfied no matter what they're given.

Freeza is going to absolutely dominate in this new movie. Mark my words ya'll.
