I don't see a point in your response to me where you actually disagreed with me SSJSC, but I want it pointed out that I do not agree with the concept that kids are innocent until they get past their local Age of Majority. There will ALWAYS be kids who simply are incapable of being taught right from wrong; sociopathy isn't something that is created at the onset of adulthood, it happens far sooner. To assume that every kid who gets nailed with such an offence is just doing what kids do is ludicrously foolish and dangerous. This allows the REAL nightmares to hide in plain sight, and we have seen enough Dahlmer's and Bundy's to to realise how STUPID an idea that is. I am sorry my friend, but you have about as good a chance as a snowball surviving in Saudia Arabia as convincing me that your point of view is wise and safe for all those involved. |

So tell me who the hell as a teenager or kid would know that butt-smacking is inappropriate? Not every teenager has mental disorders, remember that, some are just being or acting stupid. You do NOT punish someone so young to the fullest extent of the law unless the behavior is repeated in the future. And if you're a normal person, you will know that if the behavior continues, it will be even more unacceptable. How do you know if someone has or does not have mental disorders? Most teenagers are mental-illness free, but are just stupid in the end. What part of the fact that they're not adults yet do you not understand? Every person's case and situation are different. I've done stupid things when I was a teenager too, and now I'm free from those mistakes. So who are you to say everyone has mental disorders again? @Daemon_Rising, one more time, they should get punished, but not punished to the point where it's an adult type of punishment. As a teenager I am offended that I am some retard who doesn't know how to keep my hands to myself. I'll admit, I'd love to touch, but alas, I cannot. It's a sad life. |

If what they have done warrants a stiff enough punishment, I see no reason why they shouldn't. Sexual harrassment/molestation/assault are all very serious crimes. They DESERVE a very serious punishment. Is it any fair for the victims if the perpetrators do not receive the full amount of punishment owed for breaking such obvious common-sense laws? |

Butt-smacking is not a violent crime. It's just a creepy crime that disturbs other people's privacy. Not everyone re-offends out there. |

Slapping someone's posterior is sexual assault. Sexual assault is the touching of an individual in a sexual manner without consent. |

You think a 13 year old would have as much self control as a 19 year old would? Answer that question and you win me in this argument. |

Pretty sure that 99% of teenagers know that touching inappropriately is wrong. With a five year old I might understand them not getting it but a 15 year old knows exactly what they are doing. I know I did. It's not just the law either. By that age we're able to empathise a lot better than younger children are. We don't want to be touched in places and so we don't do it to others. Also the punishment befits the nature of the crime and it's decided on a case by case basis. Not everyone will be sent to a youth offenders centre for harassment. And actually if you're the sort of person who still doesn't know about inappropriate touching by the time you're 14 then there probably is something not quite right with you mentally. And yes 13 year olds have almost as much self control as adults. They're not as mature so they might act silly and enjoy childish things but they still know when to stop taking it too far and what's acceptable and what isn't. I don't know why you think teenagers are such idiots but they aren't. Edited by Pelador, Nov 15 2014, 02:07 AM.

Yes, a 13 year old should know that it's wrong. If they don't, then there's obviously some sort of issue, either with the person themselves or how they've been taught. |

Some 13 year olds have far MORE self-control then many people in their thirties when it comes to such things. It is simply common sense and logic: If you touch someone and they do not like it, then tell you to stop and you continue doing it ANYWAY, you have officially committed a crime. Many young kids understand the rule of law: If you break the rules, you should be punished accordingly. The only ones who don't agree with this setup are the ones who are currently being punished by it.

Yes they should. By the time we reach about seven we have usually learned most of what is right and wrong barring a social disorder such as autism. Inappropriate touching is a lesson learned very early actually. |

Lol, so that means that every inappropriate touching you did as a teenager should get you punished even now then even though you have more self control and you're more mature now and you haven't touched anybody inappropriately since then. Seriously, you can't tell the difference between a kid and an adult. You're the same guy who said Andrew Garfield is a perfect Spider-man cast right? |
