Is there a difference between spamming and harassing or are they both equivalent? Which one is worse?

Spam is annoying. Harassment has both an aim and a motive. We can all safely say that what we just saw was not spam, but harassment. What Frankie was doing a while back, was harassment. Not spam.

Eh-hem. Let's try to not use examples like that again.

Spam is the random emails you get now and then asking if you want to buy viagra. Harassment is commonly understood as behaviour intended to disturb or upset, and it is characteristically repetitive. In the legal sense, it is intentional behaviour which is found threatening or disturbing.

If you sent out tons of messages in a text to your friend, but your friend does not respond and is annoyed at you, would that constitute as spamming or harassing or neither?

I was recently threatened with a lawsuit because my girlfriend attempted to add someone on twitter. They called it "harassment." I couldn't help but laugh.

People are way too sensitive when it comes to certain things. There is a definite difference between spamming someone, trolling someone, and actually harassing someone. Learn it.

I'd say it's only harassment if your friend makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with you.
