So if someone was an a***** and pissed somebody off, should they get charges now? I think that people like that in our society are poisoning the lives of the others and they need to get some small penalties for being one at least.

One example: Let's say you need to discuss something with someone, and then the person just rudely hangs off the phone to avoid talking to you for some reason.

Discuss.

No, that's definitely going too far. We can't dictate how people live their lives.

You wanna know what's going too far? Going after the marijuana and pot users and people walking naked on the street. That's where I don't support political correctness.

Smoking pot and dope is illegal for a reason. I do agree being naked in public isn't such a big deal and the stigma that's put on nudity is unnatural, although streaking is an unnecessary action for protesting something.

You think it's right for people to be treated in such a way that doesn't make them real human beings? If I was trying to order a sweatshirt from you and you hung off the phone from me before I can say a word, then you're a scumbag who needs some a*** kicking against you. You think its right for people to disrespect others like that when one day stuff like this could escalate.

You put up with it, that's what you do.

Alternatively, you report me in to my supervisor. If I'm on the phone when I'm supposed to help you, I'm not doing my job.

Misread your post: If I did that, again I'm not doing my job. You should report me.

I think that's a bit too far dude. Getting charged for being rude? That's too much. People are not angels

Edit: yeah if someone's rude while doing their job that's different. They're not doing their job right

The amount of money and resources dedicated to trying to police this sort of thing would be completely unreasonable - those resources would be better spent on dealing with more serious crimes.

what emmeth said.

i think if society ever stooped so low to the point where trivial s*** is a reportable offence, then the ppl reporting should be arrested for being little crybaby whiners.

No one said it was ok to be treated that way. They are saying that violent acts towards them like you're suggesting is not ok.

How does one define being an a***? I might not view rudeness in the same way as another person does. It's completely subjective. You can't make something illegal based on one person's point of view. Also maybe I quite enjoy acting like an a*** sometimes if I'm in a silly or annoying mood? I doubt I'm the only one too. In Britain we call it taking the piss. It's part of our culture.

I'm an a*** to customers who push me too far while I'm trying to do my job. Just because you're a customer and I'm an employee doesn't mean you can walk all over me. I'll always stand up for myself.

So I disagree about the "not doing your job right" bit.

To charge someone with being an a***** is to charge them with a thought crime, as there is no current law against being an a*****. And I will say right now, when we decide to charge people criminally based on their thoughts alone, we have gone too far into the abyss of fascism to ever return.

Yeah, this discussion is pretty much a non-starter. After making it a crime to be 'an a*****' (which like Pel said, is a subjective term, one person's a***** is another person's 'brutally honest'), where do you stop? Charging someone for swearing because you don't agree with it? Charging someone for looking at you the wrong way? At the end of the day, if someone in customer service is rude, report them to their superior and If someone in the street is rude, then that's their prerogative, just try not to be one yourself.
