Well, I have quite the predicament. So, eventually I want to buy a "next gen" game system. However, I'm having a hard time deciding what to get. I want the Wii U for Smash Bros and any Zelda or Mario game etc. I want the PS4 because I want to branch out from Nintendo, and some of my friends already have it so I could do online play with them. I want the Xbox One also to branch out, and also because of the Halo Master Chef Collection, Halo 5, and any other future Halo game. I'm also considering the maybe get a gaming laptop for, again, branching out and also for Steam. Upgrading my desktop won't really work out plus would probably get way too expensive. I'll probably only be able to get one at least for a couple of years, depending on how long this generation of gaming lasts. I'm a big Nintendo fan but I also want to badly branch out and get into some FPS's. I'm not really directly asking you guys what I should buy (on the partial contrary to the title), just for some suggestions or pros and cons of each option. |

Getting a PS4 around Christmas or the start of the year would be a good idea, of course this is coming from a PlayStation fan. Still though if you already have a desktop then you don't really need a lot of the features the X1 has same with a laptop, which also can get faulty very quick even if you're careful. I won't go in to what games are better as that's up to you. Pro's of a PS4: Cost effective, PlayStation Plus gets you a lot of good free games and the console is cheap anyway. Also a lot cheaper than a good laptop Lot of discounts on PS+ It's nice and compact and not very noisy Slightly more powerful than the X1 and is more desicated to actual gaming and has greater indie support if you like those kinds of games Plenty multimedia options, Netflix, Amazon Instant, Music Unlimited etc Cons: Games can be expensive for consoles and you need to subscribe to PS+ or XBL but if you only plan on getting a couple of big titles a month it's not that bad You won't get a large portion of the benefits of PS+ without also having a Vita and PS3, the subscription still more than pays for itself but you might want more than you get on just one console So either stick to what you know and get a Wii-U or branch out to PS4 I'd say. PC has the most games but the best ones are usually on X1 and PS4 anyway and considering you're not already a PC gamer I doubt you're all that bothered about ultra graphics. The difference between PC and the new gen consoles isn't much to shout about anyway, it's not like the consoles have 90's graphics in comparison. Next year games like Phantom Pain, Witcher 3, Evolve and other great titles I forget are coming out so Christmas or after would be a good time to pick something up. Before Christmas you have GTA V and Far Cry 4 to check out too. And then the Wii-U isn't too expensive so you could save up for one of them after. |

Thanks, that really helped! Even if it won't be able to get any Halo games, I could live without them as I haven't really played any of the recent games in the series anyways. Getting the PS4 and Wii U later seems like a good plan, though it may take awhile to build up money to buy a Wii U, it won't take too long, and I've really wanted to get GTA V for awhile and I think that and a few other games will be able to hold me over until I purchase it. |

And then when you can afford a Wii-U it will probably have tons of games that aren't out yet you'd otherwise be waiting a long time for GTA V on new gen does look awesome indeed wasn't a fan of the last gen version but the improvements seem worth it. Bloodborne is another cool looking game coming out in February I believe, a spiritual successor to Dark Souls if you've ever played those and like them. |

Depends all on games, really. If you are looking for long lasting, expansive, possibly free depending on the game, customizable and highly populated games, get a PC/Laptop, it's great for MMO/RPG fans and even have quite a few shooters/fighters/racers or whatever you are into, and there's always the wonder of browser games. If you are looking for party games, as I'm sure you know, keep to Nintendo, the Wii-U doesn't have a huge library right now but it's got stuff like Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. A PS4 is your typical all-rounder, it's got bits of everything, and unlike the XBOX actually branches off into MMO/RPG a fair bit too with things like DC Universe and, if I'm remembering correctly, even Final Fantasy 14, it's also got a good bunch of fun indie games. Or, if you are into fairly restricted games that are mostly just shooters and nothing interesting where most of the community is made up of annoying British/American teenagers who think they are awesome and know how to do everything with serious attitude who never seem to stop talking and make you truly appreciate the mute option, then you could buy an XBOX One. I personally have none of the above aside from a laptop, I'm keeping to my 360 and PS3, it's got some of the worst that didn't bother jumping ship to the new generation as far as community goes, but an endless amount of games to play and a much quieter and more helpful community. That wonder is especially true on gaming PCs and laptops, where you almost never have to hear the voice of another player. |

get a wii u if you truly enjoy nintendo games better. but i wouldnt doubt a new nintendo system coming in the next few years. FPS arent really that amazing on the next gen consoles so i wouldnt just rush into a ps4 for those until you try them for yourself at a friends or something. if your really into halo you could get the MCC its pretty sweet, but the servers are crap atm. ps4 is no more game centered than the xbox 1 thats just stupid garbage coming from a sony fanboys mouth. i believe ps4 only has 1 more game in its collection than the xb1 at the moment sooo...... enough of that trash. I have all 3 nextgen consoles. i would say i play them in this order ps4- 40%(because of last of us mostly. amaaaazing game) xbox1 - 35% WiiU - 25% edit: no mmos on xbox one arkadom? meet neverwinter. EDIT 2: Xbox one is actually cheaper than the ps4 aswell. xbox one price on amazon. $369.99. ps4 $499 both standard versions. Edited by tOMMY pICKLES, Nov 17 2014, 12:51 AM.

The PS4 is more focused on games, some of the X1's hardware is dedicated to the multimedia services and it already has slightly less powerful. That's just fact, nothing to do with being a fanboy. I'm pretty sure the X1 price cut is only temporary also. The consoles are pretty cool for broadcasting too it's more complicated to set it up on a PC all you need on PS4(dunno what X1 needs) is a Twitch or Ustream account and you can nroadcast gameplay for people to watch or watch other peoplemplay games. Never used it before until yesterday, it's a good way to see how games look. It's also funny to watch people play games like Outlast with their face cam on

I don't know where you go the "no" part from, you clearly came into this without a clear head if you are making claims like that, I said PC is more focused on that, as is the PS4 because the PS4 has ports, never did I say that the xbox does not have any, I said that the others are more focused. As for the XBOX, all I have to talk about is it's community, because it's really not that great, everything else is average or generic, while the community itself is actually pretty awful most of the time. It's why my main console is my 360, none of the people who think they are so hardcore and have to be so haughty about their console in most of my games. |

You're still spouting this ridiculous nonsense?
Spoken with true ignorance and bias. -- Just get whatever platform has the best games library to you, and/or the one your friends play on. |
