Crazy Awesome Legend

I know it was on quite early on a Sunday morning but did anybody catch the Cenotaph?

I just finished watching it tonight and now I can't help feeling a bit depressed.

For those of you who don't know what it is, the Cenotaph is when all the war veterans march in column past a memorial in London. It's held on Remembrance Sunday. The Royal Family, the leaders of the government, the heads of the armed forces and all the Commonwealth and religious leaders lay down wreaths against the memorial and then they have two minutes of silence to remember the fallen. I find it to be a very poignant and touching reminder of all the people in history who sacrificed their lives so that I could one day sit here typing this out on my computer.

There was a part where they showed an interview with a veteran who fought in the battle of Arnhem, Holland during the second world war. It was slightly upsetting because he really believed that the British failure to liberate the dutch led to the mass starvation in the winter. He was crying and apologising for it as if it was his fault. That battle makes me sad. They came so close to doing it but then what followed was terrible. Especially when the Nazi flamethrower tanks attacked allied forces who were fortified inside a building.

Then I learned about a battle which I'd never heard of before. Apparently the Japanese tried to invade India but they were forced back by allied forces. That must have took some doing. Hats off to those forgotten heroes.

The bravery and the sacrifice of those who have fallen in battle so that we can sit in front of our PCs and get fatter by the day must not be forgotten. That is essentially what this event is about.
