What happened to cheats?

Remember when pretty much every game had cheat codes? Big head mode, infinite ammo, the Konami code. What happened to all that?

I was pleased when I discovered the extensive list of cheats for Shovel Knight but I wish that more games included them. Some sort of new generation game shark would be pretty beast as well.

lol. The Konami Code was a band, wasn't it? I know it's a cheat code too, though, don't worry :p

Well, I guess people don't cheat anymore. That's a good thing. I know for a fact that GTAV has cheats though.

People resort to hacking. I know I've done it when I wanted to cheat and there were no codes. Cheats are fun, bring back cheats.

I've never hacked. Well, not true, I did use an aimbot in Counter-Strike once.

Cheat planet and cheatcc, yo. The mags were much needed for the GTA games back in the days.

I remember Cheat Planet. Game winners used to be really good as well. Now I use gamefaqs.

I guess since mods became popular cheat codes weren't really needed.

There still are cheat code books for current gen consoles out there, they just aren't as popular.

If a cheat did anything non-cosmetic... I felt it should always be earned (like the infinite ammo bandana or stealth suit in Metal Gear Solid). Not simply researched on the internet.

More multiplayer mods would be welcomed though... (loved the ones in Unreal Tournament '99).

On top of mods, there's also the problem with achievements being deactivated if you cheat. I think a lot of people prefer achievements over cheats.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I dunno, I'm a bit of a crazy trophy hunter, to the point where I struggle to want to play games that don't have trophies but I'd still love to have cheats.

Like in GTA IV, I just wanted to fly around, spawn a tank stuff like that. V has some half decent cheats but nothing substantial, where are the pedestrians riot and gore cheats?

A lot of "cheats" these days seem to be black and white filters and crap like that you get for completing the game, wow I want to replay the story so much more now...? No.

It'd be great having played through an annoyingly difficult game then being able to go back with infinite lives and whatever else.
Imagine them for games like Skyrim too, unlimited Shout usage, super speed, make everyone crazy, make dragons everywhere etc.
There's a lot of fun to be had in games we just don't get now.
