I've seen a lot of comments like small gains equal huge gains in Fusion, my question is where does this come from?

I haven't seen anything anywhere it's stated or even implied, unless I'm missing something this seems more like an assumption and conjecture.

The resident GT fan!

So far this small gains indivudially = Big gains at fusion applies only to Gotenks, both Goten and Trunks barely made any noticeable gains in the rosat and yet when they became Base Gotenks they surpasssed there previous SSJ self, whereas Gotenks gained over 50x increase while the kids gained nothing significant.

It's one possible solution to what the Snakeman mentioned.

Basically, Goten and Trunks come out of the RoSaT slightly stronger than what they were when the entered... but Gotenks is quite a bit stronger.

It is not implied to be the case anywhere (as far as I can remember). Just an "easy" solution... which most people abandon when trying to apply math to the situation.

To assume they didn't make any real gains in the ROSAT would have to ignore the following...

1. Everything we know about Hybrids and gains.
2. The Motivation they had.
3. The gains we know that happen when Two people who are Close to or Equal in power.
4. The Potential/Dormant power we see them have (With how powerful they are at such a young age).

And yet, they're implied to not have gained anywhere near as much as Gotenks did... as made clear by Piccolo's concern pre-fusion.

That's why I also believe the Fusion power does come from both users Potential and what they can currently handle.

I'm not saying they had to make a huge gain, but it bugs me when I see comments like that when in no where it's neither stated or implied.

I get very jumpy on the two in the Boo arc due them getting so much hate and being downplayed and real facts being ignored just because they're not liked.

Defending them is one thing... but giving them gains for the sake of justice is just as biased as nerfing them out of hate.

I never said they got huge gains...

We all know Goten and Trunks couldn't have made huge gains in that amount of time anyway, but it's more than logical to put them extremely close to their fathers. However, I don't believe Kakarrot and Vegeta had as large of a gap and a lot of people like to believe.

Edit: As for the "Easy Solution" I don't do easy... I would rather put forth an effort and try to come up with a logical and thought out explanation instead of looking for the easiest way around it.
