Why did Tenshinhan seem to forget Super Saiyan?

Fast forward to three years later and he says something like, "so this is what Super Saiyan is like!" Bad writing?

Amazing…! S-so this is Goku as a Super Saiyan…?!” Piccolo: “…” In my opinion he's not talking about Super Saiyan itself, merely Goku's strength as a Super Saiyan, which would obviously be much stronger than three years prior. Edit: I think I got the wrong quote. It's this one, right? Tenshinhan: ”In-incredible…What strength…S-so that’s a Super Saiyan…He’s in a completely different dimension than we are…Too different…” Maybe this is to do with this quote: Yamcha: “Wh…what ki…and he’s not even fighting…” Since Tien has never seen SSj Goku fight before, it's the first time he's felt the full effect of the transformation? It just seems weird, doesn't it? Edit: Possibly, but then Piccolo commented on how weak he actually was. He's obviously still stronger than Yardrat Goku, but I don't think it should be by much. Maybe Tenshinhan has bad memory. Edit2: that's a possibility again, but still very weird. It's at least implied that SSJ Goku from Yardrat was stronger than SSJ Trunks. Nobody commented on Trunks using his resting ki then when he went at Goku. Edited by SSJ, Oct 29 2014, 03:25 PM.

Goku vs 19 was the first time that Tenshinhan legitimately saw a Super Saiyan in action. He can sense ki, but it's different seeing it up close. Similar to Goku not knowing if he could beat Cell until he saw him fight. Your ki level is not an indicator of your actual fighting ability, it's simply an indicator of how much power you have.
	The vengeance is her's for as long as she stands by Him.

I cant provide the exact quote but Goku said something to Trunks that he was holding back during the "swordfight" and Trunks commented back something like "as you too"
