will there ever be a time when vegeta becomes powerful than goku for a long period of time? because it always seems that goku gets the edge for no apparent reason. |

Vegeta was stronger than Goku for like 24 years straight, lol. But this aside in the series none of them is truly stronger than the other for a huge amount of time, they keep surpassing each other at different times and then the other becomes better, i think they did justice at Buu Arc, Goku was equal to Vegeta in Buu Arc, and Goku was only stronger because of SSJ3, and in EOZ they were implied as equals. On to the question i dont believe Vegeta will surpass Goku for a long period of time as you mean it, Vegeta was stronger than Goku for like 40-50 episodes. the reason is because goku was given special treat of training in the afterlife. its not likely to activate ssj3 on earth because of energy thing. also goku always train with teachers who guide him during his training. i always got the feeling vegeta dont want to see the outside because he hates earth and it makes his training less efficient. when vegeta fought goku he was a complete equal to him but only because of the Majin magic which pull out the inner power to use (see the japanese version). that made vegeta to gain mastered SSJ2 while goku had natural mastered SSJ2. so both were equal. when vegeta came back from the dead, he was weaker because he lost the Majin magic. if he was still affected by that spell after being revived, the battle against kid buu would be easier. |

Vegeta has already mastered SSJ2 before the Majin charm, the only think the "Majin boost" does is to drawn out the users potential, nothing to do with unlocking a new SSJ form. Chapter: 456 (DBZ 262), P4.3 Context: as Babidi takes control of Vegeta Babidi: “While I’m at it, I’ll draw out his hidden power to beyond [his? its?] limits!” And no he wasnt weaker, Babidi drew out his hidden power and remained there, just like Mystic Gohan and Krillin post guru unlock didnt lose the power tbey took later, its just a potential unlock that goes beyond someones limit. |

Hopefully. If he sets aside his pride he could. I'd like to see him defeat the big bad for once. |

Itd be really cool if Goku's saiyan 'programing' somehow gets reactivated and it ends up being Goku vs Vegeta but ironically it's Vegeta who is this time defending the earth. He wouldn't even have to outright defeat Goku, just be the one to successfully bring him back to himself. That'd be really cool. |

Vegeta was probably stronger than Goku most of the time. |

Not when they knew each other and what we've actually seen of them together. That's what counts.

Vegeta is pretty much always near or equal to him. He had a lead over him for most of the Cell Arc (From the 19 fight all the way to Goku and Gohan coming out the RoSaT). |

I guess. Surely everybody is a bit tired of Goku saving the day every single time though? I know he didn't defeat Cell and technically he didn't beat Vegeta but he was still the main focus in the fight against Vegeta. He defeated every villain in Dragonball and in GT it's just ridiculous, everyone is sidelined by him in GT. I want some change. Heck let's have Yamcha defeat a major villain, it'd certainly be a surprise.

He's the main protagonist though. Wouldn't that be expected for the main character do be the one most featured? That's like saying Naruto shouldn't be the main character of Naruto and Luffy shouldn't be the main character of One Piece because they were the main heroes too long. |

Narruto is called 'Narruto' so yeah it's expected. This is 'Dragonball', not 'Goku'. Teamfourstar actually make a joke where Piccolo says he's never around anyway...and it's kind of true at least after Dragonball. Saiyan saga he spends away in Otherworld, Namek saga he spends it in hospital and then arrives on Namek to clean up, androids saga he's in space for a year and a half and then sick whilst all the major plot development happens. The main protagonist doesn't always have to be the most powerful anyway. When you read a Spider-man comic and Hulk turns up for a while, maybe even beats one of Spider-man's foes, doesn't suddenly mean Spidey isn't still the main protagonist.
