You haven't been in a career field that uses racial quotas, have you? Like the example in my orher post, you haven't seen your employer choose a less qualified Asian woman over a more qualified white man, have you? Even TV shows do it. They'll choose gays or blacks over normal white guys for better ratings. Edited by Pyrus, Sep 18 2014, 03:40 PM.

And many companies will choose men over women. What's your point? |

Meh I don't like where this thing is headin... But yes most scholarships, university/college acceptances, jobs are slighted towards those who the employer/college feels are discriminated against. That includes racial and gender minorities. It's called affirmative action or "positive discrimination". Have you actually ever researched scholarships? Back when I used to search in high school I felt like nearly all of them had some race or gender in the title to whom they favor. "Black Woman's Engineering Foundation" or something to that effect. Anyway, I don't think these "positive" biases really make up for the other discrimination such as which the police force against minorities among others. |

Like I said, there are scholarships for everything, and the main scholarships will be for academics and community-based. Yes, I've researched scholarships. I'm in college right now. Haha And if you ask me, I think it's great that scholarships are sometimes given based on gender and race. If you understand the level of oppression those groups have gone through, you would appreciate it as well. Edited by Doggo Champion 2k17, Sep 18 2014, 04:03 PM.

Where I live, race isn't a big issue. Generally speaking, we don't have this kind of problem really often in Canada. Not sure how things are in the US though so I can't say much. |

That it isn't "not really," as you have it in your round head. It can be just as difficult, if not more, for a white guy to get a job in law enforcement/emergency fields than someone of a different race, depending on the location, of course. Should I use bigger words or what, lady? |

Do you have any actual statistics to back that up, or are you just speaking words that have no real validity? The majority of companies choose their employees based on their individual qualifications. Sure, one company may choose a black man over a white man. So what? Many companies also blatantly choose white men over black men and women based on race and gender alone. There are far more occurrences of prejudice in the favor of white men than there are for black men or women. Prove me wrong. |

I wasn't the one making the absurd claims in this thread, was I? It's common knowledge that blacks, women, and gays are more discriminated in the work place than white men. A simple google search would yield tons of articles. And you added nothing to the discussion except point out the fact that you're unable to use common sense.

I agree for in work place discrimination, not for job acceptance rates with equivalent qualifications. Are you actually gonna post evidence or just bash people and ask them to do it? |

I'm in a bad mood. I'll post evidence later if you want, even though it doesn't matter at this point. I haven't seen anything from the other side either. |

Yeah, I've been trying to write the same paper since last night and it's due in less than an hour, so I'm getting really frustrated. Lol |

So what exactly do you want me to provide from my employer or similar institutions? A written testament, video evidence of acceptance discussions, testimonials from other officers, what? Dammit, duck this slow piece of machinery. By the time I type a response there are two more replies in here. |

While KP is right on the fact that some people do discriminate against white people, it's a percentage that is far far far far far far far far far (See where I am going with this?) lower than the number of white people who discriminate against minorities.
