Did Jesus actually exist?

Science is built upon facts. Religion is not. Therein lies the difference.

Besides, most intelligent atheists don't have blind faith in science.

I believe much of the Bible is written in parables and metaphors, symbols for the greater things that came about, the stuff that science proves, you know. Like dinosaurs, the Bible never denies their existence. The same thing with the possibility of aliens. They are simply greater life forms. You know, like how demons are described?

However, the story of Jesus existing is not one of those metaphors. He truly was the link between God and humans. Because you see, God can't look upon this land due to the evil nature of it. Lucifer is taking over, slowly but surely. But only slowly by our eyes. See, the way time works for us isn't how it works for God. Do you really think the universe was created in seven days? No. Science isn't untrue. It's simply testament to how complex God is. It's nearly inconceivable to us, but to him it's just another 'day'. It wouldn't make sense to us, but he doesn't think like we do, due to us living on a land in a universe full of evil.

As for this "the universe isn't for humans" argument I read: that's true. This universe is run by Lucifer, or Satan as we know him nowadays. It's not for us. However, as a follower of God, you must persevere through this journey we know as life in order to make it to the next realm, also known as Heaven. It's a huge test.

And for the argument about death and illness, again, this place isn't for us, so the nature of evil will attack us as a species. But our bodies aren't our real selves, but rather a holding place for our souls, which is who we really are. That's not necessarily part of any test, but rather an unfortunate event that transpired on this evil land. It's just the plan running it's course.

Also, this might not be related, but Revelation 9 mentions an angel 'opening up an abyss, and smoke rising from it'. You know what that sounds like? Opening up the ground, down to the core.

I believe that covers plenty of scientific theory which apparently disproves Jesus existing.

It's silly to have blind faith in something that is always changing, except some of the basic principles. The way I see science anyway is a process of learning and constant questioning of ideas but comparing science to religion is apples and oranges, you don't generally have people who worship science. Athiest is also a very, very broad label and has nothing to do with science.

Are we even talking about Jesus anymore? This thread has become boring to read.

Just to clear a couple of things up, atheists aren't trying to understand an entity they do not believe to exist first of all, thus we are not like religious people in that regard. We just simply believe that science is the only thing that could produce evidence of a god, but that is not to say we think it will. Which brings me to my next point, while it is true that atheism has nothing to do with science in general for many atheists I.E. many atheists out there don't give a s*** about science, and you sure as hell don't need to be an atheist to be a scientist, even atheists who are not into science have to abide by the fact that scientific proof would be the only thing that would make them accept the existence of said god. From my experiences, a good majority of atheists are believers and trustworthy of science, but not all are.

I fail to see what that has to do with the historical evidence of the man named Jesus.

He was responding to other posts in the thread. If the thread was strictly about Jesus, it would have ended after the first post.
