I have to leave the room or put in ear buds, or I will get pissed off. Whistling is okay as long as it's not too high-pitched or obnoxious.

I think singing/humming should be done in private out of consideration for others; leave it to the professionals and all that. If whistling is quiet, then that's the only pass. Do you personally like to whistle or hum more though? When I'm chilling, I find myself doing either randomly, now and then.
