I personally think Amon is nigh unbeatable, only capable of being beaten by the Avatar, who can negate his blood bending in the Avatar state.

Another thing to note is that those two had by that point bonded something fierce; it could just as easily have been a snarky joke as opposed to an actual fact.

He was good, no doubt about that, but he still has stuff to learn. That's possible, but conjecture all the same, at least in regards to Katara. Toph has no problem telling Aang he isn't up to snuff.

An airhead who had just toppled the most dangerous Bender to date. It is almost guaranteed Aang to a degree would have slacked off slightly and used that victory more or less to one-up anything that came to challenge him next and that arrogance would get him slapped around. It certainly happened with Korra and as we know, Avatars have bits of their previous lives inside their current incarnation and it is not unfair to assume the most recent incarnation before the current one gives more than any other due to the shorter distance in travel life-wise. Katara and Toph both wanted to ensure Aang did not slack off at all in his duties as the Avatar. After all, his job was far from over as the comics show....

Personally I think a blast of lightning from Ozai would be much more detrimental to Amon's health than Mako's was. So assuming Ozai can resist at least a little bit, I'd give it to him. Otherwise I'd give it to Amon, no probs.

If Ozai's firebursts reach much father than Amon's bloodbending, it won't matter how strong that bloodbending is.
