Business, majoring in HR and Labor relations, or Marketing and Sales. Haven't decided which yet. I don't think it was the right degree for me, but I don't regret it either. I'll come out of it with three work terms and a decent degree under my belt. I'm in the middle of a work term now doing a pretty general office job. It's alright, but I can tell that it's not for me. At best I will be settling for it. It could be worse. I'll be 24 with a degree, no debt, and a lot of possibilities. I think I'll do marketing just because I'll actually enjoy it and breeze through the material. It's not the best business field, but I think I'll be doing something different with my life anyways. At least I can cross "get a degree" off the bucket list. Edited by sylentknyte, Aug 29 2014, 12:27 AM.

Majored in Political Science and Psychology, minored in Philosophy and just finished my first week of Law school. I'm sure it'll all pay off...someday...:/ In all seriousness though, I am LOOOOOVVVIIINNGGG law school. It's already the hardest thing I've ever done, but it is really, really fun. We've already gotten into the super meaty interesting stuff so the homework is kind of addicting. |

I've attempted several courses at various colleges. I studied basic psychology but failed the first exam due to my mind going completely blank right from the word go. Horrible experience let me tell you. I also studied history and ICT at the same level as this. However my final grades for these were poor since I stopped applying myself 3/4 of the way into the course. A year later carrying on the ICT route I studied basic PC repair. A few years later I studied game design for a year but then decided that the course was not going to take me anywhere so I quit before starting the second year. What I really wanted to do this year was a programing course somewhere but there wasn't anywhere nearby that did it. Taking my second choice I was hoping to study film this year but the course was cancelled due to insufficient numbers. Now I'm in limbo for a year. |

Sports Medicine, dawg. Always been into that fitness/nutrition type of life, so I thought I might get into it. Plus it's pretty good money at the same time. At one point was considering on going into commercial law, but nah. |

I went through a few general computer courses at a local polytechnic and ended up getting a diploma in "Communications and Information technology", focusing on programming. Did it pay off? Yes it did. |

Started going for a degree in Architecture, I wanted to learn about all the number crunching that goes into such a field to make it safe. Probably should have gone for Civil Engineering though because I failed the Art classes that were required in the first year. So I switched my degree to Associate of Arts since that one doesn't require me to pass an art class. how ironic.I got that degree, worked at a couple grocery stores, and now I'm unemployed. Was the degree useful in any way? No. Not even close. But the experience did introduce me to the guy I'm married to so I'm still glad I went.

I'm about to finish up my degree in English with minors in creative writing and women's studies. I haven't decided what to do after undergrad yet. I'm either going to graduate school immediately or trying to work first and see how that goes. |

College these days isn't worth what it was in the past. At least not in the U.S. The only sure fire fields that will pay off 99% of the time is the medical fields. Everything else is a gamble. Not to mention all the debt you have to pay off after college which can take many years to pay off for some. I'm not saying college isn't worth it at all, but these days it has really gone down hill compared to the past as far as graduates to careers statistics. Mainly stemming from the economic problems we are still facing post 9/11 near recession that is slowly getting better but not all that quickly. Another issue is career market saturation. Too many graduates of a certain field, not enough jobs to go around, which is in part due to near recession issues still. So many lawyers, engineers, IT specialists, etc... that can't find jobs and end up flipping burgers at McDonald's because of these reasons. These days you're better off going for vocational certificate programs than full fledged 2+ year degrees to at least get your foot in the door at certain places with little to no debt to worry about then further advancing your education, promotions, and pay grade with the company/institution you are already with, with more school later on. Then the 2+ year degrees become more valuable as you already have a career going to advance rather than graduating then looking for a position freshly. Not only that but some employers will help pay for your advancing education if you plan to stick with them once you graduate. With all of that said, I want to go back to school to just get certified as a pharmacy technician, then in the future I may or may not go back to school and become a full fledged pharmacist, which would be many years of further schooling, but if I work as a pharm tech for 5-10 years beforehand, not quite as much schooling required as a student entering the program from scratch.
