Budokai Tenkaichi 2

For a while now I've thought the 2006 fighter is very underrated.

I wanted to buy BT3 but apparently it's rare, so I settled for BT2, and I really liked it. I'm curious to why fans don't really talk about it?

When it comes to Z fighters, fans are quick to talk about Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 3, along with Raging Blast/2 and Ultimate Tenkaichi (Because it's apparently bad).

BT2 doesn't get talked about enough IMO. The music was good, the tournaments were fun, it had like 120 characters (Less than BT3, but still a large character roster) the Ultimate Battle stuff was fun and challenging, and whilst I thought the story mode was poorly executed (All Z fighters are bad at this) it was still fun and, from what I've heard, more detailed than BT3's.

I dunno why people forget this one.

I usually forget this one because it's unforgivably hard. I remember the last part of the story mode was extremely difficult.

Well I haven't gotten that far to tell you the truth.

I'm nearing the end of the Freeza saga

fa sho, man.

I have had a taste of the difficulty though. Have you ever tried to beat the Cell Games tournament on expert? I can't get a hit in on Cell. ^_^

Oh. You know what, never mind what I said. I thought this was Budokai 2, so I misread >_<

But the difficulty is there in this game too, but not as overbearing as Budokai 2 :p

And yeah, the Cell Games Tournament is freaking brutal. Took me weeks to clear it.

I haven't played any of the BT series in years. But isn't BT2 and BT3 pretty similar?

Bt2 is probably brushed to the side because it's comparatively shallow gameplay in comparison to Bt3. The story was certainly handled better, but it also suffers due to a lack of stages that would have made more sense in certain situations. For instance, without the Hell stage, the Fusion Reborn arc drives me crazy. Why the flying heck am I fighting Janenba on Kami's lookout!? It's a nitpick, but I find it infuriating. GT also skips a lot with the lack of child Goku. Beyond that, it's a solid game that is simply overshadowed by Bt3's greater sense of depth. Most people get past the comparatively lack luster story.

in my case i settled for tenkaichi 3... i had 2 but i broke it ( woops ) :c,

Budokai tenkaichi 2 is my favorite console dbz game so far. It was actually challenging. it was fun. you had to work your ( insert word u r comfortable with ).
The characters werent easy to get. or remember still having a TON of characters left to unlock. i loved the story mode too, Gameplay was fun ( more fun the BT3 for me ).

i wish i could play it again.

BT2 has got to be one of my favorite DBZ games.

If it weren't for BT3, it would be the best one IMO. It's soundtrack and story already surpasses that of BT3's.

How come T2 > T3?

Doesn't really make sense to me... But there's also room for enlightenment.

Just in terms of the story mode and the soundtrack.

Otherwise, BT3 takes it in terms of roster and gameplay.

Its my favourite of the BT series because the story mode is what I usually buy the games for.

In response to what I said earlier, I'm actually playing Tenkaichi 2(Sparking! Neo) right now, and it actually seems like this game has greater depth. BT3 has a follow up system, which you can just mindlessly button mash with. BT2's cancel system forces you to think where you're gonna throw your charge attacks in order to cancel them, which actually makes the game super fun if you willing to learn the cancel system. With that in mind, I guess some people just prefer bigger rosters over a better story, better music(subjective I know, but most people would agree), and better gameplay. For me, it's pretty clear which is better, and that's Tenkaichi 2 by a landslide.

I guess I agree about the music. That's really important to me. But so is T3's amazing gameplay. It'd be almost perfect with T2's soundtrack. Yes.
